Wow. I’m still soaking in the energy from last night.
Huge thank you to @cityofmiamigardens for trusting me to create a mural that reflects the roots, resilience, and rising spirit of this city. A place shaped by people who give their all for their community.
Such a beautiful event hosted by @lindajjulien to celebrate @oscarjb2 his family and kick of @loveofurbandesign week / miami art week.

Followed the unveiling up with more amazing events at @wyn317 and the @wynwoodmuralfest celebrating with friends/inspirational artists of all kinds. Grateful to be part of this community.

Putting your employees into a company mural sounds like a great idea.

Sometimes it is.

But after painting murals for businesses, I’ve learned there are a few things worth thinking about first:

1. Employees leave.
That person might be an important part of the company today—but what happens when they leave next year? Now you have a 10-foot portrait of someone who doesn’t even work there anymore. 😂

2. Someone always gets left out.
If you paint 5 employees, why those 5? What about everyone else? A mural meant to bring people together can accidentally create the opposite feeling.

3. The mural should outlive the current team.
This is the biggest one.

A good company mural might live on that wall for 10, 15, even 20+ years.

Instead of celebrating specific employees, I usually prefer representing the people, values, history and culture that make the company what it is.

That way employees can change…

Leadership can change…

The company can grow…

And the mural still tells the right story.

There are definitely exceptions—and sometimes a specific person absolutely belongs on the wall.

What do you think: would you want your portrait painted 10 feet tall at your job? 😂 by @raw.sol

Day 11: Concrete proof I’ve been putting in work.
.
For this section of the coastal project we are getting into the foundation of what they do, the machine, the materials, and the people that turn and idea on paper into something concrete.

The “Build Better Lives” story is coming together.

Day 10 of @builtbycoastal project. Paint a leaf with me in 30 seconds.
.
Monstera leaves have always been my favorite to paint. Such a quintessential representation of tropical life. Almost as cliche as a palm tree… maybe more lol. But they’re still super cool and funky. Who doesn’t love the holes in them. I dunno Something about it just gets the people going.

Day 5. Art Tip.
Lots of strait lines on this abstract Miami skyline. Started doing something new on this job that’s been working well for me so thought I’d share.
If you have any more cool tricks for doing strait lines,
, any questions/suggestions on what I should talk about next,
Whether you want more content like this or not, LMK!
