Happy last days of summer ✨ I’ve been so busy, but I thought I’d check in to say hi & share some highlights from the summer before it’s over.

I recently got back from our annual beach vacation (pics 1-6 & 20). It was incredibly hot/humid. We also had a “front row seat” to a project on the beach that required a bunch of pipes on the sand in front of where we were staying. As a result, we needed to detour to the street & enter the beach a few blocks away. No worries; I just used the sidewalk as my personal runway 😂

My hubby got creative w/the first pic, giving me angel wings like @jennierubyjane at Coachella. I also included me on “my runway” & in front of the pipes, as well as the usual Transformer pic, some geese crossing the street & baby ducks.

No surprise that we went to more concerts since my last post. Slide 8 is @viioletgrohl, 9 is @audreyhobert, 10 is @madisonbeer at her Q&A & 11 is her on her runway, 12 is @djotime, 13 is @tameimpala, 14 is @hauteandfreddy, 15 is @littlebodybigheart, 16 is me w/ @dogstarband ( Keanu Reeves is on my right) & 17 is them performing, 18 is @tiffdidwhat from last night & 19 is her opener @tommysfleece, having the time of his life.

So it’s been a while. I haven’t posted since mid-Dec. In fact, I’ve only been on here a few min. total in the past 5 or so months.

I guess you can’t be surprised. I’ve been hinting that I wanted to unplug more. I turned 50 last month & I’m ready for a new chapter. It doesn’t mean I’m gone for good. I just want to spend more time IRL & I’m loving it for the most part.

Life is good except for some challenges, mainly the fact that I’ve been dealing w/insomnia since the new year. I literally will be up all night long like my body has forgotten how to sleep. It’s improving now, but I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

Anyway, I just wanted you check in/let you know I’m still alive. Here are some things that were good, like more concerts. I saw @bush & did the VIP meet & greet again (actually watched from the stage). I also saw @mikainstagram, @pinkpantheress, @zaralarsson, @thenbhd, @twicetagram & @1glaive.

I can’t believe how much the seasons have changed since I was last here. Most of our winter was covered in ice, but I did do another snow swimsuit pic in a flurry during the Winter Olympics. I included it, along w/snow on the beach, a pouty Bean & baby geese playing on the beach in the spring.

Happy holidays & last concert of the season (swipe for feel good pics & concert clips). Today’s post combines feel good Friday moments w/footage from last night’s @audreyhobert performance at @theatlantis_dc. I hope you enjoy, as it will most likely be my last post of the year.

It’s the holidays, so it’s even more important for me to unplug & #bepresent (that’s the best present you can give those around you). Therefore, I didn’t want to do separate holiday & concert posts. Besides, I didn’t take any Instagram-worthy holiday pics deserving of its own post.

Funny story behind the first 2 pics; I took them on a whim this morning at the grocery store. You can’t get more authentic/relatable than that. I happened to be wearing my hoodie from last night’s concert, which in my mind ties it altogether.

Sticking w/the #holiday theme, slides 3-5 are #Christmas decorations in the #snow & 6 is the leg lamp from A Christmas Story in a store window.

The rest of the slides are from the sold-out #AudreyHobert concert. I am amazed we were able to get tickets because the venue is so tiny, much like the restrooms. 8-10 are in the restroom. Love how someone wrote “Be the person you needed when you were young” on the wall.

I think Audrey is that person as she shows up as herself & inspires others to do the same w/her vulnerable lyrics (see clips 12-19). It was amazing to be in a room full of people singing every word to every song. It was definitely one of the best concerts of the year.

Slide 20 is me snuggling Peep after the concert. Love that my cats love me back ❤️

I almost didn’t post, but it’s an annual tradition. On the first #snow of the season, I spontaneously snap “snow suit” pics (slides 1-10), as in pics of me in the snow wearing a swimsuit.

I started this tradition years ago, just for the fun of it. It’s such an adrenaline rush. I don’t think I have pics of the first times I ever did this, although I have quite a collection of them now (see past posts throughout the years).

Recently, I’ve been unplugging more, so when it snowed about an inch last Friday, I wasn’t sure if I’d continue the tradition. I was cozy in my sweatshirt & jeans (yes, I wear pants 😂), trying to decide if I was going to take my usual pics or not.

Suddenly, I was inspired to keep the tradition going, whether I posted the pics or not. Besides, I didn’t start it to share anyway. I needed to get back to my why & just have fun w/it.

It didn’t matter that the light wasn’t right & I wasn’t looking my best. I even had marks from my denim on my belly that you can see when you swipe through the photos. It was a real moment that I kept to myself for a week (the same amount of time the #snowman in slide 11 survived in my neighbor’s yard; pretty impressive for only getting a flurry).

I decided to post today, because I felt like sharing this story. Find your why. Do it for you. Show up as you are.

I also had @audreyhobert’s song “Thirst Trap” in my head, which if you listen to the lyrics, is kinda perfect. Some may see it as a thirst trap, while I think it inspires others to #havefun, bring back the #joy on here & love themselves exactly as they are (something that’s hard to do when we all are prone to over-analyzing every part of ourselves).

The other slides are in my typical #FeelGoodFriday fashion. 12 is a bootylicious snowman, 13 is Santa, 14-15 are #holidaylights, 16 reminds me of Stranger Things, 17 is of a gingerbread man in a mug, 18-19 is of lights & an #iceskatingrink at the Wharf, & 20 is a pic of me from Monday’s concert post (I might share an edit in my stories).

In the darkness, there’s light ✨ It’s not that bad, if there’s a good story to be told. Swipe/read for more of the story …

I’ve been unplugging a lot, living IRL & popping in to share what I’m up to. Yes, we went to another #concert, but this one was esp. memorable.

My hubby’s fave band is @thirdeyeblind (I posted about seeing them in last year), so it’s no surprise we went to last night’s #DC101Derland (as in @dc101radio & wonderland) at @theanthemdc where they were headlining. My daughter & I are huge fans, too, making our way to the front.

Slides 1-4 are my typical pics in front of #TheAnthemDC marquee, but it was so dark that you can barely see me (slide 1 is the one my daughter liked the best). 5-6 are lights at #TheWharf to set the scene.

I’m now obsessed w/ @theparadoxband which sounds so much like @blink182 (slides 7-9). It was also “fun” to hear the singer from the band FUN perform songs w/his other band #TheFormat (10-12).

For all you #ThirdEyeBlind fans, I included #song clips in slides (13-18 & 20). In 18, you’ll notice the lead singer point in our direction during “Jumper” & me scream. That’s when my daughter passed out into my hubby’s arms, got lifted over the railing & wheeled out (thanks to everyone who helped her). 19 is her being treated, as we could hear #SemiCharmedLife in the distance. My hubby recorded a short clip of the last song for us.

Luckily, she had just overheated & was cleared to go. She even sent the pic of her getting her vitals taken to her friends, because although we missed the end of the concert, she now has a good story to tell (but if the band is reading this, she wants you to perform “Summer Town”).

Why did I pick “Love Today” by #MIKA when it isn’t trending on here? Well, for starters, it’s trending in my life right now.

As you know, I’m a Taurus, so I can be a bit stubborn. I like to do things my way. I still treat this as a photo platform. I post on my own schedule/opt to post what feels right to me, rather than what performs well.

I’ve been unplugged since Halloween. Some of you checked on me, so I decided to post/let you know I’m alright. Besides, now’s a good time for a #gratitude post.

#GratitudeIsMyAttitude, esp. w/ #Thanksgiving being next week. I could list so many reasons to be #grateful including time w/family, my cats, etc. We all have something to be grateful for. It puts you in that #abundancemindset. Rather than focusing on lack, take note of what’s abundant in your life (I’m not rich, but I’m certainly wealthy in cats; I have 4 😂).

Anyway, multiple times this week, my 2017 car accident came up in conversation. It always puts things into perspective. I was driving when another car ran a red light, striking right where my hubby was sitting. If he hadn’t shifted his body at the last second, he wouldn’t be here.

It’s a reminder of how precious life is. I’m grateful for every day I’m alive/get to share my life w/him (slide 20 is the 2 of us months after the accident).

Sometimes I like to play old CDs to sing/dance to in the kitchen. This week, I pulled out an old #BeastieBoys CD that survived the car crash (I lost haim; it was stuck in the player). To my surprise, MIKA was in it. I thought it was a goner, too.

It’s been so fun revisiting his #music just in time for his tour. I’ll be seeing him in concert for my bday in 2026, around the same time as the 9th anniversary of the accident. I’ve decided to #celebrate the fact that we’re still here.

Today’s pics start w/me in a #dancerspose because it makes me feel #hope. The rest are a mix of fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving & Christmas pics/clips from my walks, as well as cats, ducks & books (unplugging allows more time for reading).

@sabrinacarpenter sings “Manchild,” & in today’s post, I’m vying for the attention of this notorious #manchild.

Usually, I post a whole bunch of costumes in October (you can scroll back to see previous years), but this year, time got the best of me. I knew my schedule was booked, which is why I did a @spirithalloween earlier in the month (I had to post at least something in the #halloweenspirit). I mentioned I might post something last minute, so that’s what today’s post is about.

I literally had nothing planned & the weather wasn’t cooperating either. I figured if I put too much time into planning, the wind & rain wouldn’t stop long enough to capture my vision. However, sometimes it is best to just wing it.

I started w/going through my hubby’s #halloweenprops. I had yet to use #Chucky & his bride #Tiffany. Who could I be w/them?

I considered being another #creepydoll like Megan, but I didn’t have the right outfit (nor was I going to buy one). Then, I thought of @glennclose in “Fatal Attraction.” If only I had her iconic hair or similar #wig in my wig collection.

What I did have was this short #blonde wig (I wore it for my old Scream & Miss Piggy costumes), the @frankiesbikinis dress #SabrinaCarpenter wore in her “Espresso” video & a biker jacket, although not quite what I was looking for. Put it together w/a choker necklace & a lipstick tattoo, & I’m transformed into Tiffany 2.0, who’s trying to steal the original’s man from the #ChildsPlay franchise.

Luckily, the weather calmed down long enough for this impromptu photoshoot (slides 1-10). I also included the #pumpkin my daughter carved last night (inspired by Monday’s post), a bunch of #halloweendecorations from my walks & a fun photo of me w/a flower skull wall that’s been living on my phone.

What’s going on w/this outfit? I guess you have to read the caption/swipe through today’s pics/clips to really get it.

This is my last concert post for a bit, which is bittersweet. As much as I’m fueled by #livemusic, there is a point when my body tells me to slow down. I’m going to honor that, while I post some memories from Saturday.

We ended on a high note, because we’ve been looking forward to seeing @magdalenabay for a while (they were actually featured on a #song w/family friend @jordananye, who once played a mini festival in my parents’ backyard; see her concert post from earlier this year). While you might not be familiar w/this wife/hubby duo, I’m about to school you 😂

Their latest album #ImaginalDisk is literally a #workofart, as they take you on an #adventure through #songs. All of their videos go together & have an #artsy “Sledgehammer” vibe (if you know the old #80s @itspetergabriel video, you get it). I think they’re planning to put them all together to create a movie in the future, much like how they bring it all to life on stage.

Seeing them live at @theanthemdc certainly did not disappoint. We were immersed into the experience. It was so much fun that I had to share it w/you (slides 7-17 are clips from the performance). It was magical ✨

Of course, my daughter insisted we dress the part, so she dressed like Mica at the end of the show in a blue leotard, sheer ballet skirt, #angel wings & blue face makeup (you can see part of her wings in slide 3 & the back of her in slide 19). I was influenced by the red character in my red @frankiesbikinis dress, paired w/my old #jemandtheholograms earrings, @moana_bikini fanny pack & blue @jeffreycampbell #cowgirlboots (a concert staple).

As for the rest of the slides, 4 is a #mural inside #theanthemdc, 5 is merch, 6 is the general admission crowd/balconies, 18 is the stage after the show & 20 is a calming #waterfall in the parking garage.

Happy Friday ✨ As I always say, “don’t forget your sparkle.” I know I was #sparkling at the @laufey concert last night.

Inspired by #Laufey & her love of dressing up, as well as her opener @sukiwaterhouse (I’m a fan, aka #sparklemuffin ✨), I just had to dig this sequins @freepeople dress out of my closet & pair it w/those @jeffreycampbell #butterflyboots that are quickly becoming a concert staple. Just to add a bit more flare, I ended up accessorizing w/my Laufey VIP pass & sash. So fun, especially at the photo op in the VIP lounge (slides 1-3; slide 4 is a selfie w/my hubby who prefers to be cropped out).

We had tea & a snack in the lounge, while we snapped pics, signed the guest book & got a close up look at some of Laufey’s costumes (slides 6-7 are of my favorite silver dress).

Although she loves to dress up, she also addresses her insecurities in some of her songs, mainly “Snow White” (slide 17). I think we all can relate to not feeling enough sometimes. I’ll admit that this song makes me cry.

But before I start tearing up again, please enjoy some of my clips from the concert, starting w/ #SukiWaterhouse (slides 8-11). I’d been dying to see her live for a while now. Love her.

Slides 13-20 are Laufey performing. She puts on quite the show.

In the words of @madisonbeer, “Yes baby yes,” as I’m starting out the week saying “yes” to all the #goodthings I see each day. I encourage you to do the same, like I’m doing in today’s post.

Obviously, I already listened to the latest @themelrobbinspodcast, so yet again, I’ll be referencing @melrobbins. She was talking about the difference between #stress & being overwhelmed. She also gave tips on how to handle being overwhelmed, which I have felt lately.

Stress is unavoidable & sometimes needed to move you forward, etc. Overwhelm is when things get to be too much & you find yourself swamped by things that feel out of your control; things that you did not choose for yourself (that’s the important part).

In these times, you need to label what’s going on as stress or #overwhelm & take 2 breaths in w/a deep #exhale to help get you back into a calmer state. It’s also a good idea to do a brain dump to reset your brain.

The surprising thing experts on her #podcast advise you to do is add more things to your to-do list. It can be helpful to make time for you, so you can feel in control again.

I think I was spiraling because I was giving up too much to do all that was coming my way. It felt so good to time my time on my morning walk, taking pics of what brings me joy along the way.

Today’s pics start w/some of me on #vacation, because revisiting those puts me back in that #memory. The rest include a sign for the #beach (my happy place), #sunsparkles on the water, water features at the #pond, a #duck, #flowers still in bloom, a dandelion popping out of the rocks, a sunflower wreath, a wooden duck on a windowsill, a #mermaid, a #squirrel & my daughter’s #painting on Bean (my hubby gave it the AI treatment 😂).

Happy #FeelGoodFriday ✨ I’m a little late posting, but that’s okay. I’m currently on the couch w/a migraine, which explains the delay. I just got #inspired while revisiting my pics/clips from last night (swipe to see them all).

It brings me so much #joy to see the pretty #flowers & #butterflies in the first 3 pics, as well as the bubbly performances by @stayc_highup. You can’t help but smile 😊

Yes, I said I needed a break in Monday’s post. I did, in fact, try to rest more/get back into my routines this week. I just over booked my calendar w/concerts this month. It’s bittersweet to know that there’s only a few more left.

I almost didn’t post this one until I realized how perfect it is for a feel good post. You could totally feel the amazing energy from all the fans in the crowd. If only I could share that energy w/you, too.

This is as close as I can get to passing on these vibes, so I hope you enjoy these performance clips w/some feel good images in between (chandeliers, a giant #Cinderellaslipper & more flowers).

Slides 18-19 are of some of the members of #StayC going through the crowd (my daughter’s fave part). We only got to see 5 of them because one of them was ill (get well soon). They did such a great job of having the show go on.

Oh, & my outfit was inspired by the denim/black outfits the group wore at a recent show (my daughter likes to dress on theme), but they had different costumes for ours. Well, at least I looked like I was there for the casino 🤷‍♀️

In the words of @hollowcoves, “there’s a place that I’ve dreamed of, where I can free my mind.” That place for me is the #beach. On this rainy day, I wish I could be there, so I’m posting these pics from #summer (swipe to see them all, some thirstier than others, but for a reason; read the caption).

I have to admit that I’m a bit burnt out. I need space. I need calm. But, I also need to celebrate me. In times like this, I can get down on myself/forget to make time for the things that keep me feeling my best.

It’s not selfish to make #selfcare a priority, especially if you have others to care for (gotta put on your oxygen mask first). For me that means quiet, meditation (even if it’s only 10 min.), yoga (my body craves a good stretch after my daily walks), reading, fueling my body w/produce/protein & filling in the gaps w/the @welleco #TheSuperElixir #dailygreens #supplement I’ve been taking for quite some time.

#WelleCo was kind enough to send me the pineapple & lime flavor to take on my summer #vacation (thank you). The flavor is alright, but still a bit green. It’s good for conveniently mixing w/water when #traveling. At home, I prefer the unflavored to mix into things (there’s a link/code in my bio; I’m an affiliate).

I have definitely downsized my supplements, preferring to keep things simple. This is one of the only things I take. I was #inspired by founder @ellemacpherson, who started the company while on her own #wellnessjourney.

Speaking of #ElleMacPherson, she revealed that she’s a breast cancer survivor, which leads me to the reason behind the “thirsty pics.” It’s #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, so I thought I’d remind you of one more thing to do when you think of self care. Check yourself & get a mammogram (I had mine a couple weeks ago). A friend of mine on here posted in her stories that it may have saved her life (you know who you are; I’m praying for you).
