my mom in ypsilanti a day before her mom, our nana passed over after a long fucking year of pancreatic cancer. vitality is the word that i use to describe nana. she was a teacher at juvy most of her life and had a great sense of humor and was stylish in everything she did. her favorite gum was orange trident. when i said something out of pocket she’d act like she was hitting me over the head with a pan and make the sound effect. her birthday was the day before mine, in september. i like these photos because my mom is meant to be surrounded by green, overgrown and nurtured without taming. laugh crying at the shit she’s been through. and coming to terms with experience in immersive, connective ways as a therapist and healer. love to all the ones who’ve passed on and love to the ones who we still got in the physical may they both guide our hand and often know us better than we know ourselves. by @raxmovin
