My Letter to Heaven ❤️

Dear Bella,

Today marks four years since we lost you. Some days it feels impossible to believe; other days, it feels like an eternity.

I miss your calls, texts, laugh, hugs, voice, smile, and even your smelly feet. Most of all, I miss being your dad and the life we were supposed to share.

You are still deeply loved and forever part of our family. Your kindness lives on through Mom, your brother, me, and everyone touched by the Bella Kind Foundation.

Please keep watching over Gigi, Mom, and your little brother. You would be so proud of him, a Division I football player at Rutgers with a 3.8 GPA. I wish you could watch him play and tease him one more time.

I wish I could have five more minutes with you, to hear your voice, hug you, and hear you say, “Dad.”

Four years have passed, but my love for you never will.

Until we meet again, my beautiful Bella.

Love always,
Dad

P.S. When you see Uncle Joe, give him a big hug from me and tell him how much we miss him. ❤️ by @ray_giacobbe

Today, my son begins his 3rd training camp at Rutgers University, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

I’m so proud of the hard work, dedication, and commitment he continues to show every single day. His work ethic and determination to keep getting better do not go unnoticed.

Whether he goes on to become an All-American or never plays a single down, the character he is building, the discipline he is learning, and the lessons he is gaining through this journey will stay with him for the rest of his life. Those qualities will help him succeed in whatever path he chooses to pursue.

Raymond, I am incredibly proud of you. Keep working. Keep believing. Keep pushing yourself to be better every day. And most importantly…. Keep chopping! 🪓 taken in Rutgers Football by @ray_giacobbe

Let me be crystal clear about my position, because it appears some individuals misunderstood or perhaps misinterpreted the point I was making in my previous post regarding the proposed public execution.

The man convicted of murdering our U.S. soldiers committed an absolutely horrific and unforgivable act. I support the punishment handed down to him, including the death penalty. And if the families of those soldiers wish to witness his execution, I believe they absolutely deserve that right.

My issue is with the reported order to livestream a public execution

There is a major difference between carrying out a lawful sentence and turning someone’s execution into a public spectacle. But it’s not his reputation I’m worried about, it’s ours…

America should hold itself to a higher standard. Public executions are something we associate with authoritarian regimes and some of the most oppressive governments around the world. Yes, our own country conducted public executions generations ago, but we evolved. We decided that justice did not require making someone’s death a spectacle for public consumption.

So why would we want to go backwards?

The United States is the greatest country in the world, and with that comes a responsibility to lead by example. Our strength is not measured by our willingness to publicly display someone’s death. It is measured by our commitment to justice, the rule of law, dignity, and the principles that separate us from the regimes whose behavior we have condemned for generations.

You can believe this murderer deserves the death penalty (I agree) and believe America shouldn’t turn his execution into a public event. Those positions are not mutually exclusive.

Execute the sentence. Give the victims’ families the opportunity to witness it if they choose. But don’t turn an execution into a spectacle.

We are the United States of America. We should be setting the standard for the world, not lowering ours.

May the soldiers whose lives were taken rest in eternal peace. May God bring strength and comfort to their families, and may God continue to bless our military and the United States of America. 🇺🇸 taken in Rahway, New Jersey by @ray_giacobbe
