Freshman Year: Complete ✅

My heart is so full after returning home from Peabody, This year I was challenged in ways I couldn’t have ever imagined, met and played music with some of the most real, genuine, and beautiful people. I played so many new genres, led a band for the first time, visited so many new places and stretched in ways I didn’t know I was capable of. This year taught me so much about myself as well as the importance of resilience in all facets. There were many times where I doubted my ability to persevere and questioned my own strength, I’m grateful for it all and thrilled for what’s to come. I thank God for all the lessons, the people who I have been fortunate enough to have entered into my life, and the excitement for what’s next.

This past week I was fortunate enough join @colleendrums and the Adelitas on a south west tour from Phoenix AZ to Idyllwild CA. This was such a beautiful experience for me, from performing phenomenal compositions with such inspiring people and musicians to being able to share what I love to other young women for #jazzgirlsday - (This was surreal especially because I played my first solo ever at NC Jazz Girls day 2021 😱)

Thank you @colleendrums for making this happen and all that you do, your work is so invaluable and so so appreciated 🙏🏾

& Thank you Adelitas for inspiring me to excel in every way!

If I had a coin for every time I had a ‘pinch me’ moment during my time in NYO Jazz I’d have a fortune! Grateful would be an understatement, there’s a lack of words to describe how thankful I am to have gone on this fulfilling journey with such beautiful people. I am excited to share that I will be attending the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University this fall! I cannot put into words how grateful I am for everyone who has supported and believed in me from the start. If someone would have told me four years ago that I would fall so deeply in love with music, or that I would have gotten this far I wouldn’t have believed them! It is hard to believe that this is only the beginning, I am both humbled and thrilled to enter this new chapter of my life and education.

My solo on In a Sentimental Mood.

This was so fun to record especially since I’ve always seen ballads as one of the more challenging aspects of performance, they require much patience and focus so this was definitely an educational experience for me. Super grateful for the phenomenal musicians who helped me put this together. @juliankenn2 @alston_harris and my sister & videographer @tori_trinity_flute! I appreciate y’all!

Vail Jazz Workshop ‘23!!! Where do I begin?

Not only was I so greatly elevated by the faculty but the eleven musicians I got to share the bandstand with taught me so much about what it means to be a true learner and true listener. This experience was such a blessing! I’m grateful to have met and learned from such incredible people throughout the festival, and to have been shown what it’s like to be uplifted to your full potential in each and every moment.
