A very special day at Rentschler Field yesterday as Cape Verde took on Bermuda and came away with a 3–0 victory. 🇨🇻⚽️

An incredible atmosphere, great football, and even better people. It was amazing to see the Cape Verdean community come together to celebrate the culture, pride, and passion that make our islands so special.

We’ve had the honor of speaking with some incredible voices as we document Cape Verde’s historic journey to the FIFA World Cup.

Some of the interviews featured in the documentary include:

• Hakeem Jeffries — House Democratic Leader in the U.S. House of Representatives
• Liz Miranda — Massachusetts State Senator and advocate for the Cape Verdean community
• Ulisses Correia e Silva — Prime Minister of Cape Verde
• Professor Carla Martin — Harvard University professor and scholar of African & African Diaspora Studies
• Sança — Cape Verdean singer and cultural ambassador from Rhode Island

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been posting a lot about Cape Verde. I know some of you have probably been wondering, “Why is he posting so much Cape Verdean content?” or even, “Did he just find out he was Cape Verdean?” The answer is no.

Growing up, my grandmother, whose family name is Silva, taught me the beauty, culture, and history of Cape Verde. Being Cape Verdean has always been an important part of who I am, and it’s something I’ve carried with me my entire life.

This year feels especially meaningful because, for the first time ever, Cape Verde will have the opportunity to be celebrated on one of the biggest stages in the world through the FIFA World Cup. Because of that, I’m excited to officially announce that I am creating a documentary about Cape Verde, its people, its culture, and its historic journey to the World Cup.

This project is about much more than sports. It’s about identity, community, history, and the stories that connect Cape Verdeans across the globe.

I’ll be sharing more information as the journey continues, but for now I just want to thank everyone who has supported me, encouraged me, and helped make this possible. Thank you for being part of this process, and I can’t wait to show you what we’re creating.
