Soft Armour began with the story of the displacement of my family from our home in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq. This project encompasses the complexities of the Kurdish identity, being the largest nationless ethnic group, Kurdish people have often been forgotten from history which has meant that self-preserving is at the core of our modern existence. These silhouettes have taken inspiration from the rounded nature of Kurdish menswear and embrace the essence of self-preservation, the collection is a capsule of protective cocoon silhouettes that symbolize resilience and safeguarding of one’s identity. by @rayan_archive
