COMING UP… We couldn’t be more excited for our next concert. New explosive local Italopunk band, SCUSI join us along with tried and tested mega favourites CATHDRALE from Toulouse. CATHEDRALE recorded their latest album, ‘Poison’ last year in Bxl and come back to play it for us for the very first time since. With over 10 years of experience, one EP and 5 albums, CATHEDRALE finds a way to keep evolving and refining their sound so that each time we see them, we experience something exciting and raw, but comfortingly familiar! SCUSI played their first ever show at Le Petit Lion back in February, and what they lack in show experience is more than made up for in their full frontal energy and heady attitude. "Bulgaria 1985–1995" is a hand-assembled photobook documenting the nation’s young counterculture, drawn from a two-year research project by Blood Becomes Water. The work compiles an archive of personal memories and "scattered evidence" from a tendency that began in the late 1970s. The greatest paradox unfolds after 1989: a movement that thrived on marginality was temporarily brought into the mainstream to serve as a symbol of the very society it had resisted. This publication sketches a decade of profound change, in which the rebellion against the monolithic state culminates in a rejection of the unsettling new reality as well. Присъединете се към представянето на "Брадатият" – джобна фотокнига, която ни връща към едно изгубено време и разкрива съдбата на Дядо Мраз. 🗓 Четвъртък, 18 декември ⏰ 17:00 – 21:00 📍 Място: BHS - София, ул. „Гурко“ 27 "Брадатият" е лимитирано печатно издание, съвместен проект между Blood Becomes Water и Imaginary Archive от Тихомир Стоянов. Чрез богата колекция от снимки, книгата изследва образа на Дядо Мраз от 50-те години до постепенното му изчезване след 1989 г. Както може би знаете, Дядо Мраз и Дядо Коледа са два почти идентични образа от далечния север, но чиито културни пътешествия в България са изключително различни. Книгата улавя училищните посещения на Дядо Мраз и „вълнуващия“ момент на раздаването на подаръци на децата през годините на комунистическият режим. Кратък придружаващ текст подсказва неговите вековни корени, проследявайки „добрия старец“ от древната митология, разказите на Елин Пелин и християнската благотворителност до момента, в който режимът завзема страната, което води до пълната забрана на Коледа и задължителното налагане на Дядо Мраз като единствената, идеологически „правилна“ фигура. 🎸 📕 Over the course of more than a decade, Brussels-based @rayarayax – co-founder of art collective @blood.becomes.water – built an accidental collection of setlists: a growing archive of torn papers, ripped cardboard and smudged ink, left behind by 70 bands across 13 countries. I’m very happy to share that “The Setlist Collection” is part of the Dummy Award ’25 shortlist selection out of 395 books from 48 countries! The shortlist selection resulted in only 50 photobooks. The jury consisted of renowned professionals from the photobook industry, including a curator, designer, editor, publisher, photographer, collector, and printer! So, “The Setlist Collection” will be on tour for the next year!!! The @dummyaward25 shortlist will be presented around the world, with confirmed stops in Barcelona, Milan, Cologne, Łódź, Prague, Dublin, Bangkok, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Montevideo, Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile! But most importantly, the travelling exhibition will be kicking off in my hometown Sofia, Bulgaria on the 3rd of April, and it’s organised by our dear @pukbooks !
