How exciting! My brother and his wife live in Eau Claire and my Mom is about 20 miles away. I haven't been there in over 10 years and had not heard anything about how the arts are thriving there!

One more example about how an active art community can generate economic development and turn a place into an exciting hub!

The United States celebrates 250 years of Independence tomorrow. Our history has been one of violence, oppression, and greed on the one hand, while the other nurtures, creates beauty, celebrates diversity and exports laughter and joy.

May we all shift the scales to the hand that heals and knows how to love. May we all forgive our own imperfections and seek to be better. May we all become true citizens of Planet Earth. by @rayelaart

Heather Cox Richardson is a huge voice for understanding politics and historical context. I get her daily newsletter, but she is all over social media. She is asking us to participate in a "We Are America" effort. Here is our contribution. :)

Many thanks to all of you who turned out for our event at the Green Roof International House! It was so wonderful to see so many people here, interested in learning more about what is happening in Palestine. Morgan is an absolute treasure and it was such a delight to meet her in person! I found her on Instagram and eventually connected with her and it turned out that she would be in Nashville, just two hours away, so she added us on for her cross country tour. She runs Handmade Palestine and had embroidery, olive wood carvings and olive soap with her. Quite a few people bought from her which definitely made her trip to Paducah worthwhile financially. You can continue to support her, the co-ops she works with and the arboretum they are developing through their website: www.handmadepalestine.com

And, here on Instagram:
@handmadepalestine

The event was co-hosted by Marshall Dillon who did a wonderful job with the set up and getting the word out.
@mgiovannidillon

We set up the croquet set for the kids in the afternoon and they had fun! First time any of them had seen the game! Quite a few of Marshall's friends and family came and it was so good to meet them!

We will do a post soon with some of the take always we thought about from Morgan's account of her life in Palestine. Morgan had two other Instagram followers come for her talk. One traveled 5 hours each way to meet her! Sometime social media does work! Amazing....

Thanks to all of you who came and keep on learning about Palestine and supporting the good work that is happening there!

Morgan's schedule as she continues to Austin, Portland and California: https://handmadepalestine.com/blogs/news/we-re-coming-to-the-us-this-summer-and-we-need-your-help

Join us on @creativeplacemakers and stand up for social justice and the environment! This post has a few examples of Morgan's posts about her life in Palestine:

The ethos of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
https://creativeplacemakers.net/ethos-of-minneapolis-minnesota/

I was born in Minneapolis and went to college in Northfield. The attacks by ICE on the people of Minnesota have been horrific. Why?

Minnesotans rallied and stepped up for their communities. Their resilience, bravery and organization set a model for the rest of the country to follow.

Visit the post to see some insights, share with your friends and leave a comment about what you think of their strategies and how things are going in your own community! by @rayelaart

Zohreh and Nazli, photographers in Iran.
@art.zohresolati
@nazli.abbaspour

We have two members in Iran and are worried about them as they can't post anything. Both live in Tehran and Zohreh's apartment was damaged last year during the Israeli attack. Please keep them in your hearts!

I wrote this post last year and there is information there on how you can support them financially. These are such scary times! May they be safe and may we all work towards a peaceful world where we can all celebrate our different cultures, learn from each other and live in community, whether we are close by or online.
