Apparently my reason for staying healthy has little legs and keeps getting faster. 😂❤️

Same road.
Bigger boy.
Grammy’s still chasing him.

Find your reason.
Keep it in sight.
And if yours takes off running…
count it as cardio. 😂

As women, aging doesn’t mean we stop learning… it just means we hesitate a little longer before we try.

Learning something new is supposed to feel awkward.

That’s not failure—it’s the process.
Trust it long enough and suddenly… you’re doing the thing.

It’s not too late to be new at something.

“Love Others as You Love Yourself”
— A Personal Awakening

I used to think that meant putting myself last.
I watched my mother serve everyone around her, and I followed her lead.
I believed loving myself was selfish.
That self-care was prideful.
That sacrifice was the only way.

Then I turned 50.

And everything changed.

I started feeling the weight of time in my body…
And the weight of grief in my heart as I lost people who loved me purely and deeply—I was missing that love.

That’s when I realized:
If I wanted to keep showing up for others, I had to start showing up for myself.

Today I’m recognizing the power of a mind and heart shift that affected my whole body.
It changed how I live. How I love. How I heal.

Now I understand the second half of that verse.
💛 Loving others starts with how I love myself.

Kindness to myself looks like:
→ Gentle self-talk
→ Nourishing food
→ Moving my body
→ Healthy boundaries
→ Soul-nourishing time

It’s not ego.
It’s care.
Self-care.

I haven’t abandoned my purpose.
I’ve just come home to it.
Because when I care for myself well, I can love others even better. 💞

Now, in my 60s, I’m still learning.
Still growing.
Still becoming the woman God created me to be.

Every day is another step in grace—
Another chance to speak kindly to myself,
To move with purpose,
To love from a place of wholeness.

I haven’t arrived.
But I am no longer abandoning myself on the way.

Well, I missed a Monday! 😳

And if you know me, you know I’m always saying, “Never miss a Monday!”

Why? Because starting the week with movement just seems to set the tone for the days ahead.

But life happens! We were on the road, and Monday came and went without a workout.

So today? Upper body weightlifting class! 💪🏼 And it was just what I needed!
@thevfitstudio

Here’s something I’m learning.

Showing up for ourselves doesn’t always look the same.

Some days it’s a workout. Some days it’s a good book, time with friends, or a little time alone.

And some days we just need to give ourselves permission to do what feels right.

No guilt. No shame. No need to explain.

But here’s the thing, girlfriend. 💕

Don’t let missing one day keep you from showing up the next.

For me, the best medicine for missing Monday was showing up on Tuesday!

No starting over. Just taking the next step.

Whatever showing up for yourself looks like today, I hope you do it! 💕

IMAGINE MY SURPRISE! 😳

When Monday Me sends Saturday Me an email saying…

“Ready. Set. GO! 💪🏼 Remember that exercise class you signed up for on Monday? Well, TODAY’S THE DAY!” 😆

Saturday Me: “Excuse me?! We did WHAT?” 🤨☕️

Moral of the story? 🤷🏼‍♀️

If your goal is to show up and become more like Monday You…

You might have to change the mindset of Saturday You! 😂💪🏼

Even though I hate her sometimes…
Thanks Monday Me 😏

🎃 WHAT?!
The TREAT is the TRICK! 🍬

Yikes! 😬 It’s in the science…

Your brain tells you sugar is the bomb diggity and is now your new best friend!

Oh wait. That’s not science. That’s my definition. 🤣

🧠 FACTS:

Eating candy activates your brain’s reward circuitry, including dopamine signaling involved in motivation, pleasure, and learning.

Your brain learns to associate that sweet taste with a rewarding experience, which can increase your desire to have it again.

And here’s the sneaky part! 👀

Seeing, smelling, or even thinking about that candy later can trigger those learned associations and spark a craving… even when you’re not physically hungry!

And the next day?
Your brain might remember!

Psssst! 😏 “Hey girl, remember how good that was? Let’s do THAT again!” 🍫😂

GOOD NEWS!
A craving isn’t a command!

Don’t be TRICKED by the TREAT! 🎃

Enjoy your treats intentionally, then get right back to your healthy habits. 💕

Check out my story for a few tricks to outsmart those treats! 👻

🫐 SMART SNACK ALERT! 💕

I’m learning that healthy aging isn’t just about eating less. It’s more about giving our bodies MORE of what they need.

This is how I’m practicing to pay as much attention to my fiber as I do my protein.

Today’s Smart Snack is doing double duty!

🥣 High-protein yogurt — 15g protein
🫐 ¾ cup raspberries
🫐 ½ cup blueberries
🌱 1 tsp chia seeds
🌱 1 tsp ground flaxseed

😉 TIP: If chia and flax are new to you, start small! Your digestive system appreciates a gentle introduction to extra fiber. You can gradually increase the amounts as your body adjusts.
And 👉🏼 don’t forget your water! 💧

The delicious totals?

💪 Nearly 18g protein
🌿 Nearly 10g fiber

And there’s more to celebrate than just the numbers!

Happy Dance! 💃
❤️ Supports heart and cholesterol health
🌱 Feeds those good gut bacteria
😊 Helps keep things moving
🩸 Supports healthy blood sugar
💪 Helps maintain muscle and keeps me satisfied

BOOM 💥
Strong over skinny.
Nourished over deprived.🫐💕

Now—That’s smart! 😉
