First winter season in our home 🤍

When your wedding decor becomes your Christmas and winter decor, everything feels a little more special and a lot more cozy. Today also marks our two year wedding anniversary, which makes this season feel even sweeter.

What a journey and an experience this has been. From the very first permit to today — and let me tell you, God has truly been here every step of the way.

Let’s start with this: We got married on 2/03 on 203 Ford Street. Our plane landed at exactly 2:03 during our honeymoon. As soon as we got service, we had a voicemail from the county — our building permit was ready. Fast forward to now: our house number is 203. We got our occupancy on Good Friday… and closed today, on Easter Sunday.

God’s timing is always perfect. Always.

Sharing a few photos (and a video) from the final steps of our home-building journey — plus a glimpse of our very first snowfall at our new space.

We worked closely with Kidd Homes and poured our hearts into every detail. I am so proud of us. Proud of my husband for tackling the exterior and interior projects (which was a lot).

Started with a floor plan and turned it into our dream home — exactly how we envisioned it after years of ideas and planning. Feels so us.

It’s taking time to complete our house, but that just makes it all the more meaningful. We’ve been doing so much ourselves, and every step is a labor of love that makes this place feel even more special. There isn’t a day that goes by where we’re not putting our hearts, minds, and bodies into this home.

Huge shoutout to my husband @brettrick for all the incredible hard work he’s done— completing the floors, trim, baseboards, doors, siding, deck boards, stairs, and rails—and currently installing our kitchen. He also built me a shed, which will be used for another future project.

Meet Theo 🐾

A little cutie hiding in the hood of a car. Scared as ever. Every time we tried to reach for him, he managed to escape and darted into another nearby car. We spent the entire day ensuring no one drove any of the vehicles while we tried various methods to coax the kitten out.

It was an emotional 8-hour day in the rain and hot sun, but we did it! The kitten turned out to be a healthy 5-week-old boy, and we knew instantly he was meant to be ours. Brett and I had always wanted a black cat and later when we discovered that the name we chose, “Theo” means “God’s gift,” it felt like fate. 🖤

An important shout out goes to my best, @caitlin_hauser — I couldn’t have done this without you! Thank you for stopping everything you needed to do from am to pm and coming to help rescue him. I appreciated your perseverance more than you know! I’ll never forget the feeling when you were able to get him in your arms 😭 Love you ❤️

Our cute apartment. The place that became our first home together. Where there were good views and fun experiences. Where we made countless memories, new business endeavors were created, and we went from boyfriend/girlfriend to fiancés to husband and wife. Grateful for every moment in this special place.
