“Come mi Papaya” 2023 final print edition. Come mi Papaya is carved onto 5 linoleum blocks layered in yellow, green, pink, orange and black oil ink on 15” wide x 11” tall 100lb drawing paper. I’ve gotten so many new faces on here I thought it was time to re-introduce myself, and what better day than my birthday! Thank you to everyone who has supported my art through the past year. It’s the first year I’ve been able to focus on making my art a serious hobby and it’s been so rewarding to get to do so and share it all with you 😊 I’m so excited to see where the next year takes it! 💀ART IS A PROCESS Y’ALL! 😅 Sometimes, many times, I have an idea and I can pretty much figure out how to execute the plan, but this was a whole new learning experience:

🎳I set out to make prints of the bowling pin I carved for the Second Frame show at Mission Bowling (@missionbowlingclub). A goal of mine since I started the project. When I would explain my ideas everyone all had the same question, “How is that going to work?” And honestly I had NO CLUE! 😭

The first step to learning how to do a new thing is being bad at the thing… so here I am being really bad at this new thing 😅.

Don’t worry, I turned it around! I have some really cool pieces to show off when I get around to editing and posting all the footage. Follow along to see how they come out!

“Self-Portrait of a Mortal Man” is a reflection of the passage of time, the afterlife and my mortality as a queer/trans/disabled Cuban-American artist.

Stop in before the walk begins, meet the artists, and see original work up close. Prints will be available to take home.

“Grown from the Gutter” a reminder of the strength in beauty that comes from less than desirable places. Handcarved bowling pin & acrylic paint, hand chiseled California Bay base.

Available @missionbowlingclub

This pin is currently showing unsealed so that I can remove the paint and pull a few prints off of it.

How you ask? Great question! I have a few theories I’m interested in trying, but this is gonna be one big experiment. Follow along to find out how it goes. Maybe this is gonna turn into a whole series.
