Reintroducing the founders behind Rays Up Read Up with The ElleRays, sibling duo and Baltimore natives Amari and Cherelle Yarbrough⭐️⭐️ We’re always excited to share the heart behind this initiative — a program created to transform literacy into something students can experience, enjoy, and connect with in a powerful way📚🎤 As founders, our passion has always been centered around creating meaningful opportunities for young students to grow in confidence, creativity, and self-expression. Through dramatic reading competitions, storytelling experiences, mentorship, and creative engagement, our mission is to help elementary school students strengthen reading confidence, public speaking skills, creativity, and leadership while feeling supported by their community💫 We wanted to create more than a competition. We wanted to create moments students would remember forever. ❤️💜🩷 🌟Moments where they feel brave enough to use their voice. 🌟Moments where reading becomes exciting. 🌟Moments where confidence begins to grow. And this is only the start of what we envision for schools and communities moving forward. We envision the continuation of expanding this experience into more elementary schools and communities, creating opportunities where literacy becomes exciting, expressive, and transformational for the next generation 💫📚 #raysupreadup #education #reading #dmv by @raysupreadup
Behind every performance is a young leader discovering their voice.🗣️ From powerful performances to our judges carefully deliberating and students cheering each other on, this competition was more than reading — it was confidence, community, courage, and young voices being celebrated 🎤💫♥️ A special thank you to our guest judges Former State Senator Jill P. Carter @iamjillpcarter , Commissioner Ashley Esposito @espositoforbaltimore , and a Hilton educator legend Miss Sally Bell for pouring into our students, supporting literacy, and helping celebrate the next generation of leaders and storytellers💜🩷More celebratory moments to come✨👏🏾 Videographer: @filmdoctorpr #raysupreadup #youthempowerment #literacymatters #education by @raysupreadup

OUR CHILDREN ARE MORE THAN A LITERACY STATISTIC. 📚❤️ Yes, reading challenges are real. But our children are more than headlines about what they’re struggling with. THE CONVERSATION CONTINUED ON TIKTOK… NOW WE CAME BACK TO HEAR FROM INSTAGRAM. 👀📚 When we shared the GMA report and opened up the conversation about children, reading, and whether kids still read just for fun, the response was bigger than we expected. Parents. Educators. Mentors. Caregivers. People who work with children every day. Everyone brought a different perspective. 💬 And now we want to hear from YOU. 📚 What are you seeing with the children in your life? 📖 Are kids still choosing to read for fun? 📱 What do you think is competing for their attention? 💡 And what have you seen actually WORK to get children excited about reading? Parents, teachers, mentors, librarians, homeschoolers, educators — jump into the conversation. There are no perfect answers here. We want the real experiences, ideas and perspectives from the people who know our children best. 👇🏾 Tell us what you’re seeing. #RaysUpReadUp #Parents #Teachers #RaisingReaders #RaisingReaders by @raysupreadup
