This trend, but with my late father. I miss you so much man 💔The part of grief that I struggle with the most, is that you don't get over it, you just learn to deal with it. And that thought alone sends me into a spiral. Because what do you mean I'm supposed to get used to my dad not being here??.... I don't think I ever will. Not a single day goes by where I haven't felt his absence. Even on my best days, they are clouded by grief. They aren't lying when they say a part of you dies when you lose a parent. I am literally relearning everything about myself. Because now I operate from a place of "but my father is dead". I can't explain it, but you know it if you've experienced it. To pops, There are so many questions I have for you, ones that I'll never get to ask. Only pictures and videos remain, and it never feels like enough. I wish this wasn't my reality. Never in a million years did I think I would lose my grandfather AND my father less than 7 months apart....I hate that I have to picture a life without you. I’ve been trying to find the words to express how I feel, but currently I am just numb. On the outside I’m smiling, but on the inside there’s a giant hole that you left me with.I’ve been experiencing all of the emotions—anger, acceptance, disbelief—but mostly I am struggling with learning how to exist in a world where I can’t call you anymore, where your voice isn’t on the other end, and where “someday” suddenly disappeared.I’ll miss our long phone calls the most. You were so proud of everything we accomplished. I have so much to thank you for. My taste in music, competitiveness, craftiness and entrepreneurial spirit comes from you. But most of all, thank you for being so present in my life. I know that if I ever called, you were there at the drop of a dime. It could be 12pm, 2am, across the country—I know you would answer. You were more than just a great father you were an extraordinary man. A provider, protector, leader, comforter. There was nothing that you couldn't do, and if you didn’t have the answer, you found one. You showed up in every way that mattered, not just with what you did, but with who you were. Your love, guidance, and sacrifices will live on through me forever.We may have lost you physically, but heaven gained you.
