I would argue that the way you treat yourself during hard times is almost more important than just getting through it. My past therapist once told me “if you get to the other side of your problem all beat and bruised, it will take you longer to heal than it needed to”, or something along the lines of that. Anyways it stuck with me, because I’ve always struggled with being extremely hard on myself. This is ofc due to trauma and operating in survival mode, but pregnancy has truly helped me to give myself more grace because I had someone to protect within my body. Now that I’m not pregnant anymore, I found myself back to the struggle.
I’ve been reminding myself of these Bible verses.

“And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

How can we love our neighbor in such a way if we are not first able to love ourselves the way God instructs us to?

I try to speak to myself the way I would a friend or even a stranger going through hard times. I don’t always get it right, and Lord only knows the amount of negative thoughts that I have to take captive 🥴😷, but God is good. I’ll keep trying, slowly reprogramming my brain and becoming a more sanctified version of myself. Not only for me, but so that I can love others better ❤️

Although I may not have an instantaneous answer, I know that God is sovereign.

Being the mother I always needed to the daughters I didn’t know I needed has healed the deepest parts of me. Watching my husband be the father I always dreamed of for our daughters makes me feel so blessed. If you struggle with forgiveness, watch this video

Pride is so sneaky and it can destroy what we’ve worked so hard to build. It keeps us trapped in things such unforgiveness, causing us to become bitter over time. Forgiveness is a requirement in life, in relationships, and even for our health. I’ve seen a well known psychiatrist tell the world that it’s okay to not forgive people (especially narcissists) and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Understanding what forgiveness is, and how it affects you, can help push us past ourselves even if we are the “victim”.

As followers of Christ, we are the light & salt of the world. If we harbor unforgiveness it will affect the light and anointing that God has gifted us to work help grow the Kingdom. This is a reason why so many people are deterred from church’s or christian’s in general, because unforgiveness lacks humility. How can we help someone if we don’t care to understand their pain?

Let’s dive deeper into forgiveness… I have a lot to say about it

“Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.”

Your sensitivity is a gift that allows you to see & feel what others may not. It allows you to love on a DEEPER level than those around you. Yes, it may feel isolating, but you are NOT ALONE. Sometimes silence is strength.
It takes intentional effort and self control to choose not to respond to something/someone that is triggering us. Pride can sometimes try to convince us that we’re losing the battle, causing us to operate from a place of defensiveness. However, it’s our job to remember that God is our defender and to allow Him to do His job. It’s also important to listen closely enough to the Holy Spirit in order to determine WHEN to speak and when not to. As well as what to say when we do respond. I believe that now more than ever, our faith as a people is being stretched out so that we can truly experience God for who He is rather than just “a man in the sky” #triggered #selfcontrol #silence #holyspiritled by @rayzellenee

Growing up my aunty was more like my mom, and she always told me, “it’s all good in the end, so if it’s not all good, it’s not the end”

I am not here to play in anyone’s face, to pretend my life is a highlight reel for the sake of pride. This last year in particular has been very difficult for me. I’ve cried, a lot, I’ve begged God to shift things around for me, and He is. Mostly I’ve had to surrender, not my will be done but His. I’m honestly so exhausted. The strength I have right now truly comes from the Lord. One thing that’s helped me through this season is movement. Moving my body, and getting outside as much as possible.

This isn’t a sad post. I’ve not lost all hope or anything like that. This is just me existing. Me doing my best, and knowing that’s enough even when I wish it looked differently.
