Y2K Content Night with @razofades 🐆🫟

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to be there that night, and I’m proud that this is the type of work that was put out without me. That’s what makes @kutthroatbrand different. The whole team stepped up, held it down and made it happen.

Razo’s been wanting to get more into color, met his model at the gym and pitched him the idea. From there, he took it all the way. Cheetah print buzz, full Y2K styling, old Benz and a whole concept built around the look.

That’s what Content Night is really about. Having an idea, using the resources around you and actually bringing that shit to life and creating past just the haircut.

Good shit 👏🏽 @razofades, and proud of the whole team for carrying it when I couldn’t be there. 💜

When I first met @razofades last year, what stood out wasn’t his barbering tbh. It was his mindset and realistic outlook on the work it takes to win.

He told me he wanted to work with us one day. The truth is, I appreciated it, but it wasn’t the right time. I’ve gotten to a point where I can’t just bring in every talented barber that comes around. If someone joins @kutthroatbrand, I want to have the time and resources to actually invest in their future not just sell a dream.

A lot of people would’ve taken that personal. A lot of people would’ve let their ego get involved. Not Razo.

He didn’t get bitter. He didn’t switch up. He didn’t start looking at us sideways because the answer wasn’t yes right away. He got to work.

He doubled down on his craft, kept improving, and focused on becoming undeniable. Before long, I kept seeing his work pop up. Better cuts. Better content. Better everything. To be honest, I had forgotten about our original conversation. I remember asking Brett, “Yo, who’s this?” and he reminded me about that original conversation with him. Funny how that works.

The first time he reached out to me, the timing wasn’t right. The second time, I reached out to him. “Alright bro, it’s time.”

Since joining, he’s been killing it. This week’s content night theme was editorial photography and he absolutely knocked it out the park.

What I respect most is that he understood something a lot of people miss: don’t chase opportunities. Become the type of person opportunities chase.

Welcome to the team, brother.

I had to remind him, “You know you’re joining the most hated, right?”

Without hesitation he said:

“Good. Let’s give ’em more to hate about.”

Make Them Know¡

Behind the scenes of y2k themed content night w/ @kutthroatbrand. This was my favorite content night so far and most thought out process.

Y2K/2000’s fashion is pop culture trends that have a retro aesthetic from this era. Leopard print was a trend during this time and I wanted this leopard print to be the main focal point for this themed night.

I recently have been getting into bleaching/coloring so I thought it would be perfect to execute a leopard print design on my chosen model. I decided to dress my client in a bomber button up jacket with baggy jeans and black loafers to maintain the y2k/2000’s theme.

PUNK¡

Behind the scenes of magazine content night. This is insight on my thoughts, perspective, and execution to display a magazine image for this night.

Liberty spikes picked up popularity in the 80’s and was inspired by the culture of punk. This haircut is a sign of rebellion and refusing to conform to traditional norms. Choosing liberty spikes was to contradict the model’s formal attire, however, still maintaining a magazine image.

I had the opportunity to cut a Mariachi and style a look that represents my background. I decided to give my model a mid burst taper with a modern mullet.

This week’s theme was World Cup. I decided to focus on the culture aspect of this theme. I strived for a powerful image that represented the cultural background of many barbers and other chicanos, including myself. I achieved this look by receiving the opportunity of cutting a Mariachi, here from San Diego. Mariachi represents the dignity and pride we have in our roots that we will pass from generation to generation. Never forget where you came from.

This Kutthroat content night’s theme was magazine/editorial style. I decided to dress my model in a leather jacket, jeans, with dress shoes, and combining this look with liberty spikes and a high taper. I wanted the haircut to contradict the outfit while cohesively pairing with the theme.
