Recently the students of Godavariba School of Interior Design ,FDPA department, make visit to bhopal as a part of curriculum in subject (Adeptive re-use studio).
Student's measure and document 300 years old heritage building Rani kamlapati mahal, old bhopal.
For understanding of culture, heritage ,architecture style,tribal art and craft they make visit to places like old street of bhopal,tribal art museum, manav sanghralay, bhojpur temple, bharat bhavan design by Charles correa , taj-ul-masjid, gohar mahal.

The aim of my design was for the building to act as a connector between Dharavi and Mumbai city. I have designed the spaces in such a way as to allow for multiple use. All the spaces are accessible to the public 24/7.

The amphitheater is the focal point of the design which connects all the spaces from the ground to the first floor, while also acting as a much needed recreational space all through the day. Use of vaults as an architectural element is done to provide a respite from the existing fabric by becoming talking points as well as experiential spaces.

I have provided many multifunctional entries and access points throughout for unhindered circulation in the building. The workshops are designed with a mezzanine floor for appropriate storage.

As there are apparent sanitization issues in Dharavi, I have also provided public toilets for the locals as part of my programme.

My initial step for the project was to learn everything about Dharavi, their basic needs, their daily routine, their spaces, etc. Keeping in mind their daily activities and business, how important their spaceSls are for them. For this project I decided that it should be useful for their daily activities as well as for earnings.

This project is designed in a such a way that the heart of Dharavi that is the hip hop culture forms the heart of this project. So I decided to keep that in centre and provided activities surrounding the dance centre to maintain their cultural value.

My priority for this project was for the people to enjoy and spend more time inside the building.

There are offices provided for their businesses, keeping in mind that every office is not similar to the other according to their varying requirements.

Community space is provided in such a way that children can also enjoy, and all the spaces are interconnected to maximize dialogue.

Sustainable materials are used keeping in mind our responsibility towards the environment.

CONCERNS:
- Focus on more open and semi open spaces
-
Transformative office spaces

DESIGN PROCESS:
- Right angles are created from the site boundaries to maximize space usage, and spaces are accordingly carved.
- Offices are planned facing the T-junction to maximize footfall and add visibility to commercial spaces, and placed in various different layouts to maximize flexibility of their usage.
- Recreational areas are placed between the economic and social spaces to provide shadows and make the space cooler, while maximizing footfall in art galleries.
- A common space is given between the library and the workshops to create opportunities for dialogues between people.
The library is also given access directly from the road.
