A year ago, I started working as an editor for @benedictfowler_

Please read below ⬇️⬇️⬇️ (it’s a long one, sorry)

I came into it without the most experience in the world, but with a willingness to learn, adapt and get better every single day.

Ben has taught me so much about business, how social media actually works, understanding what makes people stop and watch, how the smallest changes can completely transform a piece of content and, probably most importantly, to never settle for something just because it’s “good enough”

Ben took a chance on me when he really didn’t have to, and looking back now, I don’t think I could’ve imagined where that opportunity would take me.

Over the last year I’ve travelled, worked in some incredible places (somehow Monaco became a work trip 😂) met people I never thought I’d meet and been part of experiences that I’ll genuinely remember for the rest of my life.

But more than anything, I’ve made some amazing friends and memories along the way.

I’ve learnt more in this last year than I could probably fit into one post. Obviously I’ve grown massively as an editor, but honestly, that’s only a small part of it.

I’ve learnt to look at things differently, constantly question how something could be better, take criticism on the chin, deal with pressure and trust my own ideas more. There have definitely been times where I’ve thought something was finished, only to realise there was another 10% we could get out of it 😂 but that mentality has genuinely changed the way I approach my work.

So a massive thank you to Ben for taking that chance on me a year ago, trusting me with something he’d worked so hard to build and giving me opportunities I’ll always be grateful for.

It’s pretty mad looking back at where I was 12 months ago compared to now. There’s still a ridiculous amount I want to learn and achieve, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’ve also learnt to not underestimate what can be achieved in 1 year!

If I can do it, genuinely anyone can. Sometimes all it takes is someone giving you an opportunity and you believing in yourself enough to make the most of it.

Here’s to whatever the future holds! 🙌🏼

A QUICK PSA 🗣️

DO MORE.

Not because you’re behind.

Not because you’re not enough.

Not because everyone else is moving faster.

Do more because your future is built by the things you do today.

One more edit.
One more upload.
One more lesson.
One more attempt.

Success rarely comes from one big moment.

It comes from doing more than you did yesterday.

The small things done consistently become the big things everyone notices.

DO MORE. by @rbvisualss

This trailer was an awesome one.

When you have a guest with such an incredible story to tell it’s hard to build a trailer that shares so much information but this was an absolute pleasure to edit from start to finish and to hear @officialnadia_adan ‘s story was amazing.

This one is so worth the watch so make sure you go check it out on @roadtosuccessofficialpodcast YouTube channel or whatever streaming platform you use! 🙌🏼 by @rbvisualss

Built this one around tension, emotion & authority. Featuring Ant Anstead (Wheeler Dealers) 🚗

For @ant_anstead + @roadtosuccessofficialpodcast

Here’s how I structured it 👇

🎧 Cold open. Minimal music. Let the voice carry weight.
⚡ Early pattern interrupt to stop the scroll instantly.
🎼 Cinematic music layered under key impact words only.
🚗 Gritty garage visuals + subtle zooms for tension.
🎞 Film grain + cooler grade for that premium, grounded feel.
💥 Increased cut speed mid-way to subconsciously raise energy.
😮‍💨 Emotional dip before the final punch line.
🔥 Hard cut ending. Leave them wanting more.

Trailers aren’t about showing everything…
They’re about making people NEED to watch.

🎬✨ MIKE BREWER EDITING BREAKDOWN ✨🎬

This one wasn’t just an edit… it was engineered.

It was a pleasure to edit this for @roadtosuccessofficialpodcast @benedictfowler_ for the great and entertaining @mikebrewer

Every single cut is timed to the millisecond ⏱️
Every transition hits on intention — not accident 🎯
Every sound effect is layered to amplify emotion 🔊🔥

The pacing?
Built around rhythm.

I mapped the dialogue first 🎙️
Then structured the cuts to follow natural breath patterns and emphasis.
Hard cuts on impact words.
Micro J-cuts for flow.
Subtle push-ins to increase tension.

Sound design is where it really comes alive 🎧

• Whooshes to drive momentum 💨
• Sub hits for impact 💥
• Risers to build anticipation 📈
• Ambient layers to create depth 🌌

Transitions aren’t random.
They’re motivated by energy shifts.

When the story rises — visuals intensify.
When the moment breathes — the edit relaxes.

Colour, contrast, vignette — all dialled in to keep your eyes locked centre frame 🎨👁️

This is the difference between cutting clips…
And crafting a narrative.

Breakdowns like this show that editing isn’t just technical — it’s psychological 🧠

Let me know if you want more behind-the-scenes edits like this 👇

If I could go back and give my younger self advice as a new editor, this would be it.

The sooner you learn these lessons, the faster you’ll grow.

🎬 Save this for later.
