The Goldfish & Bob 25th Anniversary Edition by @toddbotdotcom

This is the story of Bob, an everyman who comes to certain realizations of life while talking to his goldfish.

Two things I really liked about this: 1)Todd’s comics here and in The Poet have that ability to slow me down as a reader, the same way Seth or Jason do.

2) the story was written at the beginning of the decade but the themes of examining your life and wondering if corporate america is for you are still relevant today.

This is chock full of ephemera: Concepts, discarded sequels, earlier incarnations of Bob, etc. it adds some interesting insights into the creative process. I liked this a lot. by @rc_comix

It was my birthday recently and my oldest @ultramega75 gave me this birthday card. The reason he got it for me and the reason I’m posting it is that the art is from the 1960’s Bat-Manga by Jiro Kuwata, published in Japan, a series very dear to my heart.

I call this my Manga “gateway drug” because after decades of being in the superhero cult and dismissing manga and anime, Bat-Manga showed me the possibilities of Manga. The next manga I read was “Akira” and I was hooked. by @rc_comix

Three Things at Once by Jon Allen - @ohioisforsale Self-published

Having read The Well (a great book that I highly recommend), this was interesting to read as some of the ideas and characters in this collection ended up in The Well. Allen does a wonderful job with the square format and the stories have a lot in there but are easy to read as you get sucked in pretty quickly.

I met Jon at @spxcomics 2026 and it was good conversation. He’s a nice guy. by @rc_comix

The Long Haul by @antonyjohnston and Eduardo Barreto (RIP) @onipress 2005

An @theultracon 2026 pickup

A great Western involving a bank robber recruiting a a group of former associates for one last big heist. Sounds like a trope but the story is fun, inventive with the first 2/3 of the book being the setup and the last 1/3 consisting of the heist in one long dramatic sequence. The epilogue is 🤌🏼

The writing and characterization is good with some good running gags and the art by Barreto is reminiscent of the classic Franco-Belgian artists, a clean style that, unfortunately, no one in America does anymore.

If you like Westerns or great classic art of a bygone era, definitely pick this up if you see it. by @rc_comix

Welcome To Hell by @sabaaneh published by @streetnoisebooks

The real life events of Palestinians systematically imprisoned and dehumanized by the IDF at the outset of the October 2023 attacks. The art isn’t super graphic (good choice) but you can feel the anguish and horror the prisoners go through.

Most publishers run away from this material, it’s good to see Street Noise publish this kind of work. Go and support them! by @rc_comix

FOREVR by Box Brown, 2026.

What if in the very near future a person’s essence could be saved before they die on the cloud and you could interact with them (for a steep subscription fee)? That’s the premise of this book.

The book focuses on the micro level about a family impacted by FOREVR and the macro issues of FOREVR for society. The macro-issues pages save the book. I do have a quibble with the ending.

It’s not his best book but it’s not bad as long as you read the entire book. by @rc_comix

I’ll be brief: This was beautifully drawn, anticlimactic and underwhelming. The promise issue 3 had was squandered here.

I think this and the recent Swamp Thing Veitch books (except for #88) are signs from the Comics Gods to 100% drop superheroes for good. For me, there is nothing there anymore. by @rc_comix
