Die Ausstellung ALTE METZGEREI ist eine temporäre Zwischennutzung und gesellschaftlich motiviertes Ausstellungsprojekt. Für zwei Tage wird eine leerstehende ehemalige Metzgerei im Königsweg 62 in Kiel als Ausstellungsraum genutzt.
Gezeigt werden Werke von Justus Köbsch, Paul Moritz Sommer, Rosan Catteuw und Xiaoyi Zhang.
Das Projekt entstand aus dem Wunsch heraus, kulturelle Nutzung außerhalb klassischer institutioneller und kommerzieller Kontexte zu organisieren. Viele kulturelle Angebote sind an finanzielle, soziale oder institutionelle Voraussetzungen gebunden und dadurch nicht für alle Menschen gleichermaßen zugänglich. Mit der temporären Nutzung des Leerstands unternehmen wir den Versuch, kulturelle Partizipation sowohl auf Seiten der ausstellenden Personen als auch auf Seiten der Besucher*innen möglichst niedrigschwellig zu gestalten.
Die Ausstellung ALTE METZGEREI versteht sich als Versuch, kulturellen Raum temporär neu zu denken und außerhalb etablierter Strukturen zugänglich zu machen. by @rcatteuw

I work with materials that remind me of the many places where I have lived. In doing so, I explore my relationship to various objects and things that make up a home. Central to this work is the engagement with personal memories.

Die künstlerische Praxis von Rosan Catteuw geht vom Fragen aus – von kleinen, alltäglichen Zweifeln bis hin zu übergeordneten Überlegungen. Diese Fragen bilden einen durchgehenden roten Faden in ihren Zeichnungen, Druckgrafiken sowie in Teilen auch in ihren objekthaften Arbeiten.
Im Arbeitsprozess stellt sie wiederholt Fragen wie: „Wie kann ich meine Arbeit intimer gestalten?“, „Kann ich eine Karte entwerfen, die mir wirklich den Weg weist?“ oder „Wie oft sollte ich meine Hosen waschen?“ Diese scheinbar beiläufigen oder unbestimmten Fragen fungieren nicht als Hindernisse, sondern als Ausgangspunkte, die ihr künstlerisches Denken kontinuierlich in Bewegung setzen.
Durch diese fortwährend entstehenden Fragen entwickelt die Künstlerin eine offene Denkstruktur, in der ihre Bildsprache innerhalb von Unbestimmtheit Orientierung gewinnt. Grafische Techniken, insbesondere die Druckgrafik, spielen dabei eine zentrale Rolle und fungieren als wesentliches Medium, in dem sich diese Denkprozesse manifestieren und übersetzen.

Een paar maand geleden heeft mijn lieve vriendin @kgreygoose haar eerste mensje op de wereld gezet en ik had de eer om het kaartje te creëren!

Gebaseerd op foto’s uit de Vogezen, waar ze elk jaar terugkeren en waar ze ooit besloten om voor kinderen te gaan. by @rcatteuw
