2026 is officially here — and it has already surprised us.

Despite everything it brings, we’re truly glad to be entering this year together with you because RCDA is about people. And without you, none of this work would be possible.

Events, lectures, screenings, exhibitions, solidarity campaigns, and fundraisers — all of this became reality because of you.

Just take a look at how much we’ve already accomplished together. And let's be brave together! taken in Canada by @rcda_adcr

Honouring Boris Nemtsov, with Vladimir Kara-Murza

On October 16, join us in Côte Saint-Luc for the unveiling of a commemorative plaque honouring Boris Nemtsov on the Human Rights Walkway.

A Russian statesman and opposition leader, Nemtsov stood for democracy and spoke out against Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine. He was assassinated near the Kremlin in 2015. His vision of a free Russia, at peace with its neighbours, continues to inspire us.

Vladimir Kara-Murza, Nemtsov’s longtime colleague and protégé, a former political prisoner and honorary Canadian citizen, will speak at the ceremony.

Remarks will also be given by Professor Irwin Cotler, Mayor David Tordjman, MP Anthony Housefather @anthony.housefather , MNA Elisabeth Prass and RCDA representatives.

📅 Friday, October 16, 2026
🕙 10:00 a.m.
📍 Human Rights Walkway, Pierre Elliott Trudeau Park
6975 Mackle Road, Côte Saint-Luc, Quebec

Organized by the City of Côte Saint-Luc in collaboration with the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights.

Join us in remembering Boris Nemtsov and honouring the democratic values he defended. Share this invitation with someone who would like to be there.

ВЕЧЕР ПИСЕМ ПОЛИТИЧЕСКИМ ЗАКЛЮЧЁННЫМ В РОССИИ
📅 September 28 | 19:00
📍 Memento, Montreal
Join the Russian Canadian Democratic Alliance (RCDA) for our monthly letter-writing evening in support of political prisoners imprisoned in Russia.
We will learn about individual cases and write letters to people who are currently in prison. A letter is a simple but meaningful way to show that they are remembered and that people outside prison continue to follow their cases.
No previous experience is required. We will provide information about the prisoners, sample letters, translations, writing materials, envelopes, and everything you need to participate.
You can write in Russian, English, or French.
Come for one letter or stay for the whole evening. Everyone is welcome.
