Sketch First, Digitize Later ✍️🖥️

I often start with pen and paper — there’s something about the rawness of a hand-drawn line that allows me to dig in and express what needs to come out.

Once I’ve captured the core idea, I bring it into @adobefresco and begin building it out digitally — refining, layering, and adding detail, all while preserving the raw energy of the original sketch.

Native Space is a series of custom installations that celebrates the natural world. Each piece honors the wonders of the animal or plant, including their cultural significance, power and role in the ecosystem.

The installations can be stand-alone or wall-mounted sculptures or integrated into the architecture as window coverings, stairwell banisters, partition walls, furniture, gates, lighting designs, and more.

We partner with local suppliers. Each sculpture is fully customizable, from colors to scale, and are all UV sealed for protection. We deliver and install.

✨ Tucancillo artwork mock-up! The original piece is currently being installed in a beautiful home in Costa Rica, but I wanted to have some fun imagining how it might look in a different setting. 🌿

Taking my time with this illustration and being more intentional with the process.

Most of the work begins as an ink sketch on paper before moving into the digital space, where I refine and build out the final details.

Created using brushes from @truegrittexturesupply. They’ve been a game changer for bringing an authentic analogue feel into a digital workflow.

Native Space Concept: The Fox

The early development of the Native Space project drew largely from time spent in the Costa Rican tropics, where local wildlife shaped both form and intention. As the series evolves, so do the environments that inform it. The Fox emerged from my time living in the redwood forest along the Mendocino coast. The property had no barriers, only an open yard beneath towering trunks, visited by quiet movement and shifting light. A fox appeared periodically—mostly unseen, yet occasionally visible, slipping through the understory or briefly pausing to play in the grass. Its presence became a subtle reminder of intelligence, adaptability, and a reminder of how wildlife coexists alongside us, often unseen.

About the Series
Native Space is an ongoing body of site-responsive installations that celebrate the natural world. Each work acknowledges the cultural significance, power, and ecological role of the species it depicts. The process blends hand drawing, digital rendering, and fabrication to realize pieces tailored specifically to place.

The Jaguar

A new Native Space installation is in the works - where ancient symbolism meets modern form. The artwork is crafted to embody the Jaguar’s duality: power and stillness, motion and mystery. This piece is packed with symbolism.

Leave Space

In music, it’s the pause that makes the note hit harder.
In art, it’s the negative space that gives shape to the image.
In life, it’s the breath between thoughts that sharpens your focus.

The space between isn’t empty — it’s power, clarity, and meaning.
