POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It has been a little while since I’ve shared much on here but wanted to take a minute to celebrate a really special community event happening on Saturday, June 14th at the sweetest shop around! 🌸📚 My dear pals @taniafloral & @littlewrenbooks will be holding their second iteration of “Open House: A Perfomance Series” - Hosted by none other than @meeshleona herself! 💛 I am delighted to be screening two of my short, experimental style films (low stakes here) “BECAUSE: Big Elephants Can Always Understand Small Elephants” & “Negative Space Exploration in a Positive Atmosphere”. Joining the bill will be music from @deepdarkwoods & a theatrical performance by @alvegoroottc. Grateful to share the space with such a talented group of folks! Tickets are still up for grabs at the link in @taniafloral’s bio 🎟️ Details in the last slide 🛝 Come one, come all! Hope to see you there! 🥸 by @rdreama

A Goldenrod Crab Spider snacking on a Mourning Cloak 🦀 Goldenrods camouflage themselves to match whatever flower they’ve made their way to in order to prey on sweet little pollinators like this butterfly 🦋 It was my first time seeing one and I’ve been obsessed ever since! taken in Bugs World by @rdreama

If you’ve been here a while then you’ve likely seen me share a mix of food related stories in between whatever else I’ve got cooking up 👩🏻‍🍳 A few years back I started a food diary, mostly to log the bread I was baking, now turned into a bunch of other kitchen creations. I have been feeling especially inspired to share and thought a “rebrand”, for lack of a better term, could represent me more in this space. “Sahtein” in Arabic means “two healths”, a word we use before/during/after someone enjoys a meal. “Habibti” is the feminine version of a term of endearment meaning “my sweetheart”. Although what I make isn’t always Arab/Lebanese in origin, I wanted to honour my culture, but particularly my mama. She is the reason I love to cook/bake as much as I do. And the one who taught me how! If you’d like to follow along, share recipes, learn from my bops and flops, then join me at the table! And @sahtein_habibti 😘 Focaccia squish c/o @j.keikoga by @rdreama

Something about this broom caught my eye every time I passed it. Maybe it was a combination of the shades of green in and around its vicinity. Or the way it appeared to be resting after a hard day’s work of sweeping the leaves. In recent passings, I finally noticed it bristle down on the deck, which felt like an appropriate time to share this little series. Being somewhere new is equal parts exciting and terrifying. But this broom reminded me of all the ways in which new places inspire and comfort me. It reminded me of the mundane world that surrounds us and why I love taking pictures of a broom: a constant in the routines we build for ourselves to make sense of the strangeness, all while finding the sameness that exists in our everyday, no matter the place 🧹 by @rdreama
