Still in Ireland tracing my Irish roguish rebel roots - finding out bits and pieces here and there and putting them all together to try to get the full story - like a big jigsaw puzzle. 🧩 Stay ‘tooned!

Feeling the ancient “Celtic Celestial Power” coursing through my veins and watching the final episode of Season Two here in Ireland along with viewing the solar eclipse from #Phoenixpark in Dublin (yes that’s really the name of the park - perfect for this Rogue, right?!) followed by the Perseid meteor shower - it was like a spiritual Xperience!!

So I was truly honoured when the amazing Canadian comic artist @rea_comics contacted me to say she was inspired by both my performance as Rogue and real-world persona and political work to create a special piece of art that’s a combination of Rogue and me.

We are calling it “Celestial Rogue” and I’ll have a select number on hand with me to sign at @theuncannyexp next month (Sep 12/13).

The artist (Stefania Rea) is esp known for her art work for DC and Marvel - so check out her gorgeous art and buy some from her to help support her!

PS I wrote and recorded this song Rhiannon earlier this year inspired by the story of a Celtic Witch-Goddess who could fly - I wrote it as a gift for a young Brazilian artist Tatiana @littlestardraws who was celebrating her 23rd birthday and told me she loved the #stevienicks song #rhiannon . Although I had actually recorded a cover version of the Stevie Nicks song a little while back, I wanted to do something special for Tati’s b-day.

You could say TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART is my idea of Rogue & Remy’s love song - Rogue’s lament for her lost love:

“Once upon a time there was light in my life - but now there’s only love in the dark. Nothing I can do - it’s a total eclipse of the heart…”

And sadly Bonnie Tyler, the gravelly voiced, Grammy-nominated Welsh pop star best known for singing this chart-topping power ballad back in 1983, is dead at 75.

One of my all-time favourite singers, she never quite got the due she truly deserved. Total Eclipse of the Heart spent four weeks at No. 1 and should have won a Grammy imho but the top awards just evaded her.

However the song has never really gone away - receiving more than 1 billion streams - and seeing numerous new generations succumb to its passionate charms ever since its first release.

And did you know there’s an X-Men connection? The male back-up vocalist is Canadian Rory Dodd - brother of Cal Dodd (Wolverine) and it’s his voice singing “Turn around bright eyes…” in that beautiful falsetto.

Total Eclipse is still one of my absolute fave songs of all time. (And one of my faves to sing at karaoke as well!!)

Audiences would also recognize her raspy vocals in several movie soundtrack singles like “Holding Out For a Hero” from 1984’s “Footloose”.

Tyler died unexpectedly in a hospital in Portugal where she was being treated for an illness, her family said Thursday in a statement on her website.

Tyler earned three Grammy nods, represented Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, where she came in 19th.

And when Stereogum reevaluated it in 2020, the music outlet declared it an “extinction-level event rendered in musical form. It’s pop music as heart-pounding, chest-thumping, blood-gargling, heavens-falling passion explosion. It’s sheer spectacle. It’s fireworks and lasers and lightning and thunder. It soars and swoops and barrel-rolls.”

Tyler was honored as a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to music by Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

THE SHOWDOWN IS FINAL. ⚔️ (Part 2)
#starwars The face-off is officially complete! To counter Vader’s heavy ink shadows, I kept Luke’s side clean with sharp line work and a light, translucent marker wash.

Seeing them side-by-side really brings out that classic 90s comic contrast.

Now that the full piece is dropped, I need to know your winner: Vader or Luke

I finally wrapped the Vader side for this May 4th showdown. I went heavy on the ink washes and cross-hatching to keep that gritty 90s comic vibe. The right side is still a blank slate.
