Meet Dr. Elissa Alvarez (aka Dr. Grizz).
First and foremost she has been instrumental in my life as a person. She will always be there and the ❤️is deep.

But there is also no way I’d be singing if it weren’t for her love, guidance, and support. She has been with me every step of the way.

Facts: In addition to slaying in @handelandhaydn for many years as a classical soprano, she is also in this band @museumoflight (hard rock, 🎸 metal adjacent) and goes on actual tours. 🤷‍♀️

Tonight she was a velvety, yet effervescent soprano singing in the Messiah chorus, but her private studio consists of metal screamers.

@reachelissa is my favorite. The end.

JUNE WEST COAST TOUR… plot twists and oven temps! Curfews and curveballs! Spitballing in the studio! Six new fucking songs! They say music doesn’t pay, but find me riches greater than the kindness and generosity of the people you meet while making it. A hell of time! 🖤 taken in West Coast Best Coast by @reachelissa

When @ejalvare asked if I’d be interested in contributing some vox for the next @museumoflight record, I was still emerging from a fog of post-academic burnout, mystery chronic pain, vocal injury recovery, and creative inertia. I said yes, in part because I’ve been saying yes to unclear adventures w @ejalvare since I could walk, but also because I really love the band’s music. I had no idea what a rad experience it would be recording @oceansoundrecordings w @gse, how much it would change my creative trajectory, and how much I’d end up loving the record itself. I’m really proud to be a part of it. Thanks, dudes. Diviner by @museumoflight is out everywhere. Turn it up.🔺 taken in Giske by @reachelissa

What is time? Realized recently that I don’t remember moments as well when distracted by photographing them, so I’ve taken far fewer pics in the last several, big months. Many revelations uncovered, relationships deepened, and new sounds created as a performer and teacher this year. I’m feeling really grateful for all the opening doors and incredible folks who’ve been a part of it, despite the heaviness of the world. Thanks and love to you. 💗 by @reachelissa
