One word: brutal. Medieval France is caught in the middle of a war between demons and angels. Seems like if you're dismembered by demons or die a slow death from the plague. Buehlman's a good writer but his style made things a little confusing at times ("the girl"..."the priest"..."the knight"... how about calling them by their names?). I also found myself liking the minor characters more then the main ones. Overall, didn't care for this one.

Four parks, 20 miles. York River, Freedom Trail, Newport News Park, and Noland Trail. Followed by a Tides game and then we closed down Commonwealth Brewing for good measure. by @read_run_repeat

Four more Clive Cusslers down. The plots are starting to get somewhat predictable but I'm still a fan. Amazing what can get accomplished by a scientific agency with unlimited resources and employees that can do everything from piloting helicopters to jousting.

Elizabeth River 10k brought the rain and humidity but it was still a fun race! First time running it in Portsmouth. Thanks @tidewaterstriders!

Book one of the Villains series. After learning that supernatural abilities can be gained from near-death experiences, a pair of students follow their own paths of self-righteousness. They become enemies in the process, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. A different take on what it means to be a hero and a villain.

A fun horror/sci-fi combo. Demeter is an interstellar cruise liner whose passengers keep dying in bizarre ways. To kill the stowaway Dracula and keep her from getting scrapped, Demeter gets help from her own team of paranormal monsters. Pretty entertaining audiobook despite the 10+ minutes of an AI voice just reading off zeroes and ones. But also funny, especially out of context. Picked up where I left off one day and the first thing I hear: "I hurl the microwave at her face."
