promises and proclamations have scurried away from me this summer.

but unexpected newness has blossomed in its wake. i got a new job at an art museum (creativity is swarming me every day!), i got two poems published, and most importantly, i got engaged to the love of my life!

sometimes life is simply meant to demand itself in front of you, and there’s nothing left to do but stand and watch. that is what this summer has been. and now, with a taste of reprieve, i can write about it. 🌱

Creative Day 6:

I admit, it’s hard being consistent with these creative days when I hold three jobs and sometimes the last thing I wanna do is use my brain after a shift.

However, I do still feel this pull to keep myself accountable. Writing and creating more is also just a jumpstart to my brain. I can feel myself starting to think more creatively and the ideas flow more easily. In an age of immediate dopamine, doomscrolling, and AI, this practice was almost necessary for me as a creative.

I’m excited to continue on 🌟

I’m a gut wrenched thing
my own sprained organs by the
dead cats and dead dogs
I never knew
I think this is what will end me
I ache for what I’ve never known
grief plagues me
through a phone
Twisting twisting
stomach
you’d think it’d fall off

Someone else’s love
has no where else to go
So I swallow it for them
Pawing at me
Trying to get in the bathroom door

We’ll never be free if we continue to care
We’ll never walk again
Knowing the ant hills in the grass
So I guess I go on
putting love to creatures
that only know survival

I’d float if I could. Something about the
air seems invulnerable to my harm
But that’s not true
None of it is true.
I’d wave to those I’d love from up there
Feel my ghosted fingers grasp through
nothing
affect no one

Yet, no one to mother my cats
no one to kiss him goodnight
no one to leave the spoon
to stir in the sugar by @readbtwnthe___
