A book for curious minds and believing souls.

A tale about the secret relationships between sunlight and any living green colour on earth. When the light of the sun, shines on greenness of the earth, the energy from the light of the sun are captured by the plants and sustains every living things on earth.

“Light made life” (Oliver Morton)

Could this be a possible explanation of the famous verse :

“Light upon light” (Quran, chapter : An-Nur 24:35 ) ?

Because, this is the verse I kept thinking about while I was reading the book. The book I mentioned as suggested read in the post to better understand the concept.

I couldn’t stop thinking about it ! Because it’s brilliant ! It’s fascinating! It made my mind blown away when I was reading the book !

It was like

رائع !

What do you think how previous scholars explained this verse ? Did they have the means to explain it without the knowledge of this recent discovery made few years back ?

Let’s discuss if you have finished reading the book too !

Finished reading the book, “Eating the Sun”

First two parts of the book are amazing from a science enthusiast’s perspectives. Last chapter really threw me for a loop and left me wrestling with some mixed feelings.

The author is honest about the background stories he presented in the book regarding breakthroughs that happened in major fields of sciences for last 250 years. A rare quality necessary to be a successful science writer. He worked as Chief News and Features Editor at Nature.

He presented some of his views and opinions in the last chapters that had me thinking, “Okey ! So this is how someone who profits from oppressive colonialism think & process information!”

Two generations of author’s family members including his late grandfather, late father and his Godfather now working in fossil fuel and oil industry.

He wrote in the book,

“ A huge amount of the life and strife of the twentieth century revolved around the getting of fossil fuel - of coal and, more dramatically, of oil. So important have such fuels been that they have become almost synonymous with energy… If the developing world are to use energy at roughly the rate that people in most developed countries use today, we need to quadruple our current power generation capacity. That energy needs to come from somewhere other than deep past. It needs to come from something available today.”

He wrote,

“We have relied increasingly on fossil fuels in the two centuries since Priestly and Hutton; we cannot conceivably rely on them for the two centuries to come if we want to let everyone on the planet share the benefits that the wealthy nations enjoy today.”

The biggest contributors of manmade climate crisis are “developed nations” e.g. USA and European Nations. The climate crisis that started approximately 250 years ago when Britain initiated the industrial era by introducing and installing commercial steam engines in factories and mines. The trend has shown no signs of slowing down ever since.

I am feeling devastated after reading this book.

Let me know if you want me to write a full book review of this one.

Now I want to let my thoughts marinate for a while.

Happy Reading 📚🌿💭 by @readersscrolls

Give your kids these books to read so they may have unforgettable memories they would cherish for the rest of their lives.

Random thoughts on reading books. And the last quote of the book is from one of the books I am currently reading.

Reading books shouldn’t come with any strict guidelines or rules.

Read books however you like as long as it feels right.

What does reading books mean to you ?

Just a handful of books. “Muqaddimah” I am kind of reading on and off since each page comes with a challenge of analysing new Arabic words every now and then because we can’t depend on the English translation of the Arabic book by the Translator of this edition. Every page of the English translation is full of misleading or erroneous translations and that’s why it may take longer than usual to actually finish reading it. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to the original physical book written in Arabic. I am still not discarding the book altogether because obviously bought the book to read. It’s just too much work for me. I am reading it with a book club hopefully it will get easier over time God willings.

Let’s talk about favourite books !

I got introduced to Bengali literature through personal home library of my grandfather’s home. Initially, I just played with the books. Slowly, I tried to read those. The Bangla language used in old Bangla literature is difficult to read at first. But I pushed my boundaries and kept reading and discovered great literature and it gets easier to understand over time. I haven’t come across anything like his writings on the timeline of literary works produced later periods of history of Bengal. This might sound exaggerated but as I continued reading more books in Bangla literature by authors who wrote great novels after him, i truly never found that taste, texture or depth of story telling in his later generations, not even in Tagore.

I have shared my favourite author in Bangla literature. Why don’t you share yours too ? How did you get introduced to Bangla literature?

The correct title of the book should have been, “The art of trickery ” I am speechless and terrified at the same time.

আমার সন্দেহটা তাহলে সত্যি ছিল !

Is there anybody on internet who have read the book ?

Anyone from Bangladesh 🇧🇩?

Reading books at midnight. It’s no longer drizzling outside. It’s raining now as I am sharing this post online. A proper October rain came early this year.

All praise belongs to The God.

[ September rain, reading book in a rainy night, book quote, bookstagram, bookish account ] The picture showing a book on bed under night shed. The name of the book is, “Eating the sun” by Oliver Morton. On the next slides there are some book quotes written on the open book. On of the quote reads, “Forest speaks of the past. The history of a forest is everywhere, written in the rings of its trees, the curves of their limbs, the tangle of their roots.”

“Corruption has appeared in the land and sea, such as drought, poor rainfall, increased illness, and disease due to the sins they commit. It has appeared so that Allah may give them a taste of some of their evil deeds in the worldly life so that they may repent to Him.”

(Al-Mukhtasar translation of verse: Ar-Rūm: 41 )

Did you read the book ? If you haven’t I think you should.

And also if your are living somewhere near the wildfire affected areas things you must do now :

1. Stay indoors as much as possible.

2. Don’t leave your home without wearing a face mask.

3. Keep children away from the toxic air.

4. And lastly save the forests and jungle and everything living in it.

God bless !

Happy reading. 🌿📚🌳
