1.5🌟 Unfortunately, this book just was not it for me. I couldn't wait to be done with it. I'm not sure why the book was so overhyped or what other people saw in it. The writing, plot, and characters all left something to be desired. I didn't care about the characters at all.

The best thing about the book was the concept but the follow through was sorely lacking. It was juvenile and not in a fun YA way.

The book starts off with her death. After her first interaction with the deathless one, I was expecting her to come out swinging, full of feminine rage raring to avenge herself and her mother and save her kingdom. Instead you get a whiny girl who writes messages about not being dead to give her people hope and tells the deathless one all the things she won't do.

But I was also disappointed in the deathless one. I was expecting the only god that couldn't be killed and that uses shadows and created the witches to be a badass unhinged master manipulator shadow daddy. Instead he's weak and basically useless except for bringing her back to life multiple times and giving wisps of his power to others. He spends most of his time trauma dumping over his mistreatment that he kept going back for more of from the witches he created. He could have taken back his power from them at any time but chose to let them keep using and betraying him.

I did like her shadow cat Nyx and would have liked to see more of that. But she basically forgets about her familiar after the night Elric gave it to her until Sybil mentions it at the end of the book to tell her that her familiar misses her. To which she had no real reaction at all.

Sybil was a great opportunity for found family and was the best part of the book imo but even she felt flat and 2d.

The ending where she finally finds her spine did make the book a bit better but not enough to make up for the rest of the book or make me want to continue the series. by @reading_all_night

God Of pain is book 2 in Rina Kent's legacy of gods series. It follows Creighton and Annika. It is a dark secret society/university mafia heir romance with BDSM (heavy on the sadism where she learns to experience pleasure through pain), grumpy sunshine where she falls first, a virgin FMC, an obsessed and possessive MMC, and touch her and die. There is good balance between spice, plot, and character development. I love the female friend group and want each book to have more of it. The parental POV didn't have the same ick factor it did in book one. Not sure if it's because I knew to expect it (she's done that in each book I have read so far in this series). Anni never shuts up and creighton rarely talks. At first he is beyond annoyed by her and her whole personality but he comes around. The little purple nickname was a turnoff for me and added to my list of pet names I'm not here for. by @reading_all_night

Book 3 in Legacy of gods series by Rina Kent. Dark mafia (heir) romance with secret societies, obsessed and possessive MMC, primal play, domination, friend's brother, and touch her and die. I was excited for Jeremy's (and cecily) story. Each book seems to get better and better but the whole series so far is great. There was great character development. I love the female friend group and want to see so much more of them. They both work through their trauma in order to be together. He helps her deal with her past and sometimes had to manipulate her into being honest (read Russian roulette scene) by @reading_all_night

This book was 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. Spoilers ahead.
This is an age gap mafia romance with an arranged marriage. Book had some spice and some plot twists. Sophia is an innocent whose father changes the groom at her wedding last minute when Roman demands it as part of his revenge. She is against it until she learns she would get to go to school and pursue a career with him. Then she's all about it. The only thing I didn't like was that he was still technically married. by @reading_all_night
