Clari Freeman-Taylor of @maryinthejunkyrd is our guest on SpotLit episode of @readingcafepod - out tomorrow!

She spoke to Amy and Lola about her favourite conflicts in literature, the @haruki_murakami_ character who made her way into a Mary in the Junkyard song, and the inspiring influence of @jacquelinewilson_hq.

It was the genuinely the most unbelievable compliment to @readingcafepod to be placed on the @britishpodcastawards shortlist in the Interview category this year alongside true broadcasting greats.

Here’s a reminder, if needed - The Reading Cafe is a podcast run by a team of (amazing) young people in a school. We joined @officiallouistheroux @nicholasgrimshaw @angelacooking @elizabday @nomadic_revery @mishalhusain @olly.mann and Interview GOLD winner, @p_wicks01 (pictured here, holding The Reading Cafe commemorative cushion!)

It was a surreal thrill to see The Reading Cafe called out (and cheered by the lovely people around me) at the ceremony. Huge thanks to the @britishpodcastawards for recognising what we do.

Tonight, @readingcafepod will be at the @britishpodcastawards in @indigoattheo2 where we are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted in both the Interview AND Specialist categories.

Our unique podcast team consists of a group of remarkable young people whose talent, creativity and collaboration has seen The Reading Cafe become a multi-award winning media platform. For the past five years, we have been interviewing both world-famous and emerging authors, staging live podcast events - including two at @edbookfest - and over this past year, we have launched our SpotLit feature in which we speak to artists and musicians about how literature impacts their own creative work.

It really means the world to be recognised by the British Podcast Awards in these categories alongside such incredible company. Hopefully we’ll have a chance to say hello to some of the other outstanding broadcasters on our shortlists.

There is so much yet to come from The Reading Cafe, so stay tuned!

We spoke to Clari Freeman-Taylor of the fabulous @maryinthejunkyrd for an upcoming SpotLit episode of @readingcafepod, and it was simply one of the very best chats yet on the show.

Amy and Lola enjoyed a thoroughly fascinating, thoughtful and hilarious conversation with Clari and you can look forward to hearing it for yourself next week! It’s a genuinely inspiring discussion about the relationship between books and music.

Mary in the Junkyard play Edinburgh’s @cab_vol tomorrow night as part of their sold out UK tour in support of the critically acclaimed and brilliant debut album, Role Model Hermit.

The Reading Cafe is currently shortlisted in the Interview AND Specialist categories at the @britishpodcastawards!

As a show entirely created in a school and led by young people, we cannot tell you what it means to be recognised on this level. If you had told us five years ago that this is where we would be with the podcast, there is simply no way we’d have believed you.

But here we are!

It is such a huge honour and an inexpressible thrill to share the Interview category with @officiallouistheroux @p_wicks01 @manmadepod @nomadic_revery @howdoyoucopepod @elizabday @howtofailpod @themodernmannpod @nicholasgrimshaw @dish_podcast. Here are some of our team members talking about what the Interview nomination means to them, and what they love about talking to guests on @readingcafepod.
