I read with the dogs at @pasadenahumane. Reading to shelter animals helps lower their stress, helps build trust, and helps them get adopted. 📚🐾

POSTS STORIES REELS

2025 reads. These are the books I read and these are some of my furriends I got to read them with. A year ago today, the Eaton Fire changed lives. For 7 weeks following the fire, hour after hour, day after day, the time was spent helping out all the animals that were coming in as well as those that were already in @pasadenahumane’s care. This was truly all hands on deck. Staff and volunteers. Even staff from other places came out to help. For those 7 weeks, reading to the dogs was put on hold. 2025 is the year that there was a significant amount of dogs that will forever be registered in my head and heart. I know it sounds insane maybe and it may not happen in my lifetime, but I still dream big that one day all the shelters will be cleared with each and every animal going home. Many lessons were learned via these books (a couple of them were books I decided to read again). Some lessons were reminders. I don’t know what I’ll read this year, but let’s go?! Read more books, adopt/foster animals (if you can), donate to shelters/rescues (if you can), and please do something nice for someone because that can honestly change their life. The world is very intense these days, but whichever community you’re involved in, thank you for what you do. Imagine if you weren’t involved doing what you do? Then what? I don’t know how much of an impact reading to the dogs has had on them, but I’ll say it here first, that the dogs continue to save me. 🐾 by @readingfurriends

31 years ago today, the Queen of Tejano Music, Selena was tragically taken away from us. One-year-old Hazel was one of several dogs that learned about her over the weekend through ‘The Queen of Tejano Music: Selena’ written by @silvialopezauthor and illustrated by @paoesco8ar. This book was gifted to me by my friend, @ale_green9. ✍🏼🌹🎤
