🌟 My Star Rating Guide 🌟

I figured I should sit myself down and think about what a star rating means to me and actually define it. As of today, these are my thoughts (subject to change) 👀

(Not gonna lie, those letters took way too long to make 😂)

🎆 July TBR 🎆

Summer is for swoony romance and spine-chilling horror 👀 My heart will be racing all month between the epic love stories and whatever is lurking inside these horror novels!

I started Ballad of Falling Dragons last month but needed a reread of When the Moon Hatched first! I’m excited to dive in and try it again.

I am super excited to receive my first @evernightbooks subscription this month which appears to be The Sea Hides Its Dead!!

🎆 What is on your TBR this month?

🎭 From Page to Stage 🎭

I’m a huge theatre geek!

Did you know that these musical were all inspired by books? Have you seen/listened to any of them? Have you read these books?

Featured:

Hamilton was inspired by Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton

Wicked was inspired by Gregory Macguire’s imaginative origin story behind Elphaba

Les Miserables was inspired by Victor Hugo’s novel which he wrote while exiled

Be More Chill was inspired by Ned Vizzini’s novel; it is full of laughs and reminders of how cringey high school can be.

The Notebook was based on Nicholas Sparks’ debut novel. The musical takes pieces from both the book and the movie while also adding its own originality.

The Great Gatsby is a new musical based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel. Some argue that it was actually written by his wife Zelda!

🐙 Remarkably Bright Creatures 🐙 by @shelbyvanpeltwrites

This book surprised me. From the moment I started it I was hooked! While I was able to predict some of the plot points but the way the story was told and unfolded kept me glued. My favorite aspect was the first person storytelling from the octopus!

I smiled, teared up, and felt my heart hurt for these characters. I cannot wait to see how the movie turns out.

🐙 Do you read the book before seeing the movie?

🐉 Feeling sappy today 🐉

I finally received my Waterstones edition of Ballad of Falling Dragons and underneath the dust cover resonated with me 🥹

Part of the reason I’ve loved When the Moon Hatched was because Kaan reminded me a bit of my husband and this love story is so beautiful. So, yes, in this life I choose him loudly.

I am excited to dive back into this world created by @sarah.a.parker.author !

🐉 Have you read this series yet?

🦋 The Crimson Moth Duology 🦋

I finally received my copy of The Rebel Witch from @fairyloot and found a trade to get a copy of The Crimson Moth (or Heartless Hunter in the US) by @kristenciccarelli 🥰

This duology was beautifully written and surprisingly deep with it being in the YA Romantasy genre. I loved these characters and hope to read more from this author.

🌸What is your favorite duology?

💣 Dungeon Crawler Carl Signing 💣

My husband and I got to meet the amazing @mattdinniman and @maudesbookclub over the weekend and Matt signed the hoodie I’m working on embroidering!

I loved meeting fellow crawlers as well! So happy we decided to drive 7-8 hours to Nashville for it! Thank you @parnassusbooks for hosting 🥹

This series got my husband into reading again and gave us another thing to bond over. I’m eternally grateful that we found this 🥰 (I promise to shut up about it for a little bit 😂)

💣 which authors have you met?!
