Starting this year off strong with those big bookish goals! We are already starting strong and reading everyday!

I read 72 books last year - I think I can totally make it to 100 this year! Let’s start knocking that TBR list out and read some of these amazing books!

I have my author event picked for this year - heading to Fantasy Fete and getting to meet in person @authormaravannacht is such an amazing bonus!

I am torn on what classic literature books I should try and read this year but I am thinking Pride and Prejudice, Little Women or The Picture of Dorian Gray. Any suggestions?

Here is a breakdown of my ratings!

Side notes to mention:
1. I don’t give half stars - unpopular viewpoint I know but I don’t need the half stars. To me a book is or isn’t there is no try
2. I try to be delicate when I give reviews that are lower stars. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and something I read that doesn’t fit for me may still be a 5 star for you! I also know how much hard work, love and dedication go into making something so daring as a book for others to openly review good or bad and want to respect all authors.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 5 - Must tell/share with all book lovers, already missing this book, lives rent free in my mind

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 4 - Still loved it, probably lives rent free but may have been missing something to give it that extra ooomph

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ 3 - Liked it, fun read, fit my mood and would still recommend

⭐️ ⭐️ 2 - It was okay, barely finished the book or maybe DNF’d it. May try to reread but don’t recommend.

⭐️ 1 - DNF’d will not recommend and will not try to reread by @readingthriftily

The reason I’m on a book buying ban….last month I was absolutely showered with love and books from my book community, my husband and family!

I am also happy to report I have already read 1 of these and working on 2 more so they did not go straight to the TBR pile but to my read immediately pile and so I must read!!

💥 Prepping for Comic-Con as a Bookish Girlie 💥

If you are like me, a bookish nerdy girlie, Comic-Con is on your bucket list! Here is some things that I do to make sure I know everything there is book related to do.

From author panels, signings and giveaway I have put together my quick list of things I do to make sure I am ready and know times and where to go for all the book things happening this year at SDCC.

I did miss out on the exclusive portal tickets for Matt Dinniman, so I didn’t include that because the time passed.

How my NetGalley shelf is looking! I have worked myself up to 56%!! And look at the goodies I have to listen to and read in the upcoming months!

I’m currently listening to Spies, Lies and Alibis by @nataliewalters_writer and loving it!!

For the longest time I had no idea you could request audiobooks on @netgalley but it has been a game changer for me!

Which book should I start after?? I’m thinking The Incediary by @ljclaren or Under the Orchard’s Spell by @annadamswrites

Had my first #fablebookclub read this month with @hali_made_a_booksta and @thenestledreader to read
Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

I will preface that I have read the Powerless series so going in I knew that it was going to be similar from all the chatter I’ve heard. But OMG 👏let 👏me 👏tell👏 you something….I did not know the extent that Powerless was similar to Red Queen. I know Red Queen was here first so putting that out now lol

Overall, of course I liked it! This is my type or YA Fantasy and I am here for it. Do I think it was slow at times yes, was the FMC naive AF also yes. However, I really liked how the FMC seems to have hit her “wow I’m dumb lets grow up” moment and hope to see her character grow in the next book that I will for sure be reading.

Also, was super happy about the plot twist that I didn’t see coming! So yay!

Last night I got the absolute privilege to see Hilary Duff in concert 🎶 it was truly what dreams were made of!

And because I was curious I looked up if she had written any books…she has!!! I was today years old besties! She has written a YA trilogy and 2 children’s books. I’m apparently in my #hilaryduffera again…lol

P.S. I know the video stinks but at least the audio is amazing!! She sounds so good in concert!

Can’t believe we are already more than a week into July! This first part of the month has been crazy so I’m just getting caught up with a mini June reading recap! I had so many amazing reads last months!

Turns out it’s actually pretty easy…

Just pull up with:
📚 unlimited books
🐶 a few puppies or kitties 🐱(honestly any cute animal will do)
☕ our favorite drinks & snacks
🎨 some crafts and cozy hobbies
✈️ maybe an all inclusive trip or two
🖤 and a couple of our favorite book boyfriends waiting inside…

…and yeah, we’re probably getting in the van 😂
