Friday favorites - crocheted book sleeves

I’ve been cranking out book sleeves this summer in preparation for @bznbookcon in August and this Daisy design is a favorite.

Did you read a book for Bookclub this month?

My in person bookclub, Lit Happens, chose The Anniversary by Alex Finlay for this months read. Miraculously I finished it a week before meeting instead of cramming to finish it the night before. 🤭

This thriller focuses on finding May Day killer, a serial killer who kills a woman every May 1st and his victims who survived. I loved the short chapters, dual POVs, trying to figure out how the stories connected and who the killer was. I also thought it was unique how the story was told on the same day throughout the years.

We will be meeting next week to discuss and I can’t wait to hear what others thought and all the theories we had.

Happy Publication Day @nataliesummersbooks 🎉

A magical island. A magical relative. A family she didn’t know existed.

A paranormal cozy mystery with a talking otter? Yes please! I’m 6 chapters in and enjoying this book so far. The tropes of a mysterious inheritance & discovering magic abilities along with great characters and a mystery to unravel has been fun.

“Everything I have and all I am are yours. My home, my heart, my family.”

Title: Pretty Little Scars
Author: Kristen Proby
Publication: 6/18/26
Genre: Romance

I finished reading this book this week and loved it! Well most of it.

What I liked:
🏔️The setting. (I read most of this while in the actual Bitterroot Valley this week)
🏔️That it connects with characters from her Blackwell’s of Montana series. (It can easily be read as a stand along though.)
🏔️Tucker and Darby. Their attraction was obvious and I liked how their relationship evolved, how he handled her past and knew what she needed now.
🏔️The little things he did for her like the flower garden.
🏔️The families! Great bonds and support. I would have liked to see more of her family though.

Final thoughts: I left reading this book with a very happy heart and can’t wait to see what comes next in this world.

Book Review - Thank you @gallerybooks for the free book

Title: Murder at the Hotel Orient
Author: Alessandra Ranelli
Publication: 4/30/26
Genre: Murder Mystery

A modern, “spicy” whodunit set in a secretive Viennese hotel, featuring American concierge Sterling Lockwood, who must solve a double murder to clear her own name and protect the hotel’s code of discretion

What I liked:
✨Sterling. What a unique character who’s dedication to the hotel never waivers. She’s respected, loyal and trustworthy. I also loved how we saw all sides of her from serious secret keeper to the flirty, funny side.
✨The mystery. I enjoyed trying to figure it out with all the twists and turns. Lots of layers to peel back.
✨The hotel. Great sense of place.

Final thoughts: Overall this was an enjoyable whodunnit to read, but at its heart the book was about people & their messy life’s. I enjoyed the locked room mystery with the hotel, the characters, the romance and spice.
