no exit review 🌨️
#thrillerthursday

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

A fast-paced, locked room thriller about 4 strangers, a blizzard, a kidnapped child, and a college student all trapped at a rest stop. This book was super suspenseful with lots of twist and turns. Although this story takes place over the course of one night it is still very action packed and kept me on the edge of my seat. It can be pretty unrealistic at times considering the story takes place in the middle of a winter storm and the main character runs through “knee-deep” snow in converse. How no one died of frostbite is beyond me. Overall I enjoyed this one. I recommend if you like a fast-paced, gruesome, suspenseful thriller with lots of twists!

daisy darker review 🌊

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

After years of avoiding each other, Daisy Darker’s entire family is assembling for Nana’s 80th birthday party in Nana’s crumbling gothic house on a tiny tidal island.

Trapped on an island where someone is killing them one by one, the Darkers must reckon with their present mystery as well as their past secrets, before the tide comes in and all is revealed.

I enjoyed but didn’t love this one. The pacing felt off for me. I enjoyed the flashback stories but the present day was a little boring. It felt like we were just waiting around for the next character to get murdered. My favorite part of this book was probably the setting, the idea of this house on a cliff that no one can leave when the tide comes in was perfect for a murder mystery.

meet me at the lake

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I’ve seen mixed reviews for this book but I enjoyed this one. While spending the weekend at the lake I needed the comfort of a beach read but with the setting of a lake. This book is just that. Will and Fern meet in their early 20s. After spending 24 hours together their connection is undeniable but the timing isn’t right. They vow to meet one year later at the lake. Fern showed up, Will didn’t. 9 years later Fern is running her families lakeside resort, something she vowed never to do. Unprepared she needs a plan to save the resort. Will shows up offering his help but is he 9 years too late...

I liked seeing Will and Ferns second chance romance love story grow from their backstory to them rekindling in present day. This story is told in dual timelines and seamlessly transitions from past to present. I have not read her first book, every summer after yet so I cannot compare the two. This was an easy quick read, perfect for a day at the lake.

acotar review 🥀✨🐺🏹

⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Finally started the acotar series after having it downloaded on my kindle for 2 years. I know this is a fan favorite but I have some unpopular opinions… 🫣

I found the first 75% of this book super slow and kind of boring. The relationship between feyre and tamlin felt forced and I thought she had way more chemistry with Lucien. I found feyre to be completely insufferable and tamlin to be such a dud. When they finally got under the mountain I thought the story definitely picked up. Tamlin didn’t stand a chance the minute she said Rhys was the most beautiful man she’s ever seen. And whoever said this was spicy lied to me.

Although I had some unpopular opinions I want to emphasize that didn’t hate the book. I did enjoy SJM’s world building and liked the idea of all the different courts. (I did immediately take the buzzfeed quiz) I am reading the rest of the series so I’m hoping the next few books get better and change my opinion. 🦇😉

Enemies to lovers meets HGTV. A light easy read about two neighbors Grace and Noah.

Grace is an interior design student trying to make ends meet when she inherits her grandparents home. Noah is a successful business man trying to make a name for himself without his fathers help.

Noah and Grace’s love story isn’t exactly love at first sight. Grace plans to renovate and make this her dream house but Noah wants to buy her property to extend his own backyard. Through their constant bickering they’re both just trying to figure out how to make a house a home.

This is book #2 in the Jansen brother series but reads fine as a stand alone.

Things to know:
- enemies to lovers
- slow burn
- duel 3rd person POV
- toxic parents
- closed door romance
