Couldn’t leave without a little purchase in NYC. Could’ve been a lot more from their selections if my luggage wasn’t already full. Thanks @westsiderbooks taken in New York City by @readwellbooks

Enough books have been arriving in the mail. Had to run out to @citylitbooks and grab Aira’s latest. Five for one ain’t a bad deal. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

A @mcnallyeditions delivery makes for a good day. Some catching up to do. Fell off my completist read through somewhere around No. 40 and we’re up to 54. Woes. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

@openbookschicago makes it tough. Made it through the C’s. Mostly Dalkey and Europa. Some I’ve had on my want list for awhile. My wife insists I build more bookshelves. taken in Open Books by @readwellbooks

That @ndpublishing sale was good for me. Left poetry to the wayside recently. No longer. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

C’est fini. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Two and a half months immersed. First time straight through. Went all in. Filled my brain. Still compiling the compendium of notes for when I (maybe in another 10-15 years) do it again. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

Old delivery. Think when Time is finished being regained, I’ll leave the early 1900’s for a bit for some @amphetaminesulphate. Especially to dive into these @thomasmoronic reprints. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

Knew @perpetualbooks wasn’t going to be a safe place for my wallet. Or my overfilled shelves. Finally went Sunday. Pause on buying be damned. Absolute top notch bookshop. Dangerously close to my house. There’s a few that were left behind that keep calling for me to head back already. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

1910’s are long behind, too deep in pages searching for lost time to care for posting about it. But here’s some I liked from the second half of that decade:

I said something about trying to not buy books this year. Almost made it to February. But it was @openbookschicago 50% off sale and I had a Christmas gift card from the wife. So it doesn’t count. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

First 4 of the year. An effort to buy fewer books is being attempted. Project: back to the beginning of the 20th century. 1900-04 so far. “Nostromo” currently. Getting today’s eyes on some classics unopened for 15-20 years. Others that sat on shelves waiting. Heart of the idea is revisiting “In Search of Lost Time”. Probably try for “Ulysses” too. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks

No more one here or there. Barth year completed. Novels pictured. Fridays and stories elsewhere. Rewarded myself when I could with “upgraded” copies for the shelf. Mostly signed now. Still some first firsts high on the need list. It’s those or all the other wants while I ponder what project’s next. On to 26. taken in The Humboldt Park Neighborhood of Chicago by @readwellbooks
