Hiiii! 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m Joey - Jo - Josephine!

I’ve started this bookstagram as I’ve absolutely fallen in love with books again, and want to follow all the book accounts, and post about all the bookish things without bothering my friends & family with my rants ☺️💖

Growing up and into early adulthood I was a bit of bookworm. My dad read A LOT and our house was always full of books and borrowing books from the library. I always loved fiction/ fantasy/ and romance. When I was well into adulthood, I perceived that I should be reading more “serious” stuff to “improve” myself and be more “productive,” so I started reading self help and a bit of spirituality, however I started to loose my spark for reading and eventually stopped.

A couple of years ago I became a mama (obsessed with my baby girl), but for a long time I believed that I really had no time for myself, especially anything that wasn’t “purposeful.” One day someone asked me what I did for fun… and I was gobsmacked that I couldn’t think of ONE THING!.. I then decided to pick up a book again (Fourth Wing), and have never looked back! Something ignited in me again and I found a part of myself I thought was gone. And reading is just pure joy! 📚🔥✨

What to expect from me:
✨No reading challenges (because putting a deadline on something fun stresses me out)
✨Slow reader (because life…. and just a slow reader)
✨No book trends (I read books that interest me, no matter how old they are)
✨Romantasy is my jam with a bit of historical fiction (but always need an out of genre palate cleanser)
✨I have the memory of a goldfish and can never remember precisely what happened when I finish a book, so my reviews are based on “the vibes”
✨🍷Wine & visiting wineries is the other thing I do for fun!

I have loved this bookish community so far and look forward to chatting with you all! 😊

✨Book haul from @lifelineh2hs book fair ✨

So my family and I went to the @lifelineh2hs book fair on the weekend. We did go on the Sunday (third day) so I dare say there would have been even more steals if we went earlier.

We got 13 books for $47! An absolute bargain! The most expensive book was $6. Most of these are children’s books, with only 1 for mama. ☺️

I also found this old and rare pop-up book illustrated by Fran Fletcher!! I previously found another pop-up book by the same illustrator at another second hand bookshop and we ADORE it! I’ve been on such a search for pop-up books like they use to make in the 90’s. They just don’t make them as magical as they used to! So this was a rare but special find 💖

When your book comes a week after you’ve finished the audio 🙄but let’s just say.. I definitely could not wait! The dragon art is to die for so worth it 😍

I had very little expectations for Threshing Day by @rebeccayarros . And just like everyone else here on booksta, I absolutely ATE. IT. UP! 😋

I realised how much I missed this world, the characters, the storyline, and how much I now cannot wait for book 4! Just a little novella, but had me gasping, reeling, laughing and crying! HOW?! @rebeccayarros your books have crack in them, and you are a mastermind! 5⭐️

Have you read threshing day? Did you LOVE it too?

Also, you may have noticed the bump I’ve been cooking of late which has kept be a little preoccupied and a little quiet on here🤰🏻😊

I have been really quiet on here lately, as I have been in the biggest book slump! I started quite a few books but just couldn’t get into anything.

Then I read The Poison Daughter by @sheilareadsandwrites ! This book got me out of my slump and I feel like I’ve gotten my mojo back! 💃🏻

It is a god-tier standalone, and absolutely un-putdownable! It had me from the very beginning. I also just wanted to show off this gorgeous edition 😍

Finally the last book in the Kindred’s Curse Saga, Burn of the Everflame by @authorpenncole! ❤️‍🔥🔥

And she’s thick! I’m a slow reader so will take me awhile. Looking forward to some Luther again!

✨ Rites of the Starling by @devneyperry ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am just sitting here shocked, mind blown and lost for words…But I’ll try.. ☺️
Firstly, @devneyperry has done it again, her writing is absolutely masterful! At first I found the new POV a little jarring, but the way every👏🏼 single👏🏼 thing👏🏼 came together and it all made sense… perfection 👌🏼
She was made to write romantasy! This series is set to be one of my all time favourites, and this book is an absolute masterpiece. I did not see the plot twists near the end coming.. the amount of audible gasping that occurred 😮😂

If you can’t tell..I loved it, it wrecked me, and I will forever be recommending this series!

When we were building our house, I use to imagine sitting on my deck reading, watching the sunrise, listening to the birds chirp.
Fast forward 5 years and it’s still my favourite spot. It’s pure magic 🌅💖✨

For some reason I had been putting off reading Spark of the Everflame by @authorpenncole but have recently started reading it. So far I’m enjoying it!

✨Blood Over Bright Haven by M.L Wang✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is such an impactful, moving story that will stay with you well after you’ve finished reading. It has one of the most original, unique magic systems you will ever read. It tackles really important topics that are incredibly relevant today.

There is a moment in the book where a truth dawns on you, and I will never forget how deeply I felt, when I realised the gravity of that truth. Everyone needs to read Blood Over Bright Haven at some point in their lives! 🙌🏼

I love this series, and it just gets better with each instalment! The Wings that Bind was the book I was waiting for in the Bloodwing Academy series.
I was not 100% a Blake fan in the first book, but after this book, I get it! I have loved his character growth and relationship growth in this book, and my heart just hurt for him.
There were a lot of things I did not expect, but found myself absolutely pulled into, especially Regan’s POV and storyline… brilliant!

Can’t wait for the book 4 release in October!! (So glad I don’t have to wait too long!) 🤗 Also P.S this song just reminds me so much of Blake 🫠 P.P.S how beautiful are the dragon scale edges all together 😍

Easter long weekend vibes 🐣🐰✝️

I’ve started The Nightingale by @kristinhannahauthor and am already so engrossed. My second favourite genre after romantasy is historical fiction/ romance, and Kristin Hannah can do no wrong.
