It’s Your Wedding by Georgie Mitchell

Full of top tips, advice and useful hints, Mitchell’s book takes you all the way through wedding planning! I learnt so much from planning our wedding and legit feel like I could write a whole book now too 😂

I really wish I had read this book when we got engaged/much earlier in the wedding planning process than I did!

Mitchell gives so much good advice and I particularly found her timings for the day super useful.

If you’ve recently got engaged, I’d highly recco getting a copy of this plus some post it notes and keeping track of everything useful she suggests!

🩷🧡 Our Wedding Bookshelf 📚

I’m nearly back to being a book account and not a wedding account… this is my sidestep back into it 🤭

From the very beginning of wedding planning, I had the idea to create a wedding bookshelf which would be favours for our guests.

We used my Mum’s bookshelf which fitted all of the books perfectly!

We sourced all of the books over 18 months and didn’t spend more than £1 per book thanks to charity shops, shopping our shelves and some gifted copies.

The only conditions for the books was that either Aled or I had to have read it and we had to have rated it four or five stars.

My mother in law (love you Ceri!) and one of my beautiful bridesmaids (love you Jo!) crocheted gorgeous flower bookmarks that matched our pink and orange wedding colours.

Aled and I spent one afternoon hand writing a sentence for each book and attaching them to each one along with one of our stickers!

I had paper bags at the bottom of the shelves so that people could safely store their book choices.

I was so so so happy with how the shelf turned out and we only had seven books that weren’t taken!

This whole thing cost us around £60 and is so easy to recreate!

All the ways I included my Mum in our wedding 🩷🧡

Not having my Mum there to help me plan my wedding, find my dress and just be there for all of the emotions was really hard.

I knew I wanted to include her in so many ways throughout the day but I wanted them to be subtle.

I’m so happy with all of the gorgeous, thoughtful and lovely ways we included her 🧡🥹🩷

Sending so much love to anyone else having to plan and have their wedding without special people by their side x

Hello my lovely booksta pals 🥹

We’re one week post wedding and I’m still deep in that lovely wedding bubble.

My heart is just so bloody full - we’ve been soaking up all of the love and happiness, opening our incredibly kind and generous cards and gifts and doing some happy cries!

Adjusting to life where you don’t have to plan a wedding is GLORIOUS and I love it 😂🤭

I’ve got a few posts planned where I want to share some of our bookish touches and the ways I included my Mum in our day too!

We’ll go back to book posts one day…

Thank you for all of your love over the past week on posts, stories and messages - it really does mean the world!

If anyone needs wedding advice, I am here to share from one very stressed bride (my fingers went numb in the days before the wedding bc I was so stressed 🥲🥴) to one very happy wife 🩷🧡

2 sleeps until my legal wedding and 4 sleeps until my wedding day… AAAAHHH! I am feeling stressed to the max and just want it to be Saturday right now so I can skip these last few manic days and just enjoy it all!

I’ve got 9 pages left of my current read… honestly wondering if I can get it finished or not 😂

I was given these three from some of my besties for my birthday and I’m eyeing them up for some of my first reads post wedding!

Happy Monday evening pals! It’s three sleeps until we get legally married and five sleeps until our wedding day… wtf 🥲🫠 I think this week is going to be an absolute blur so I’m doing a post whilst I remember!

Frida and Gabriel are on a brother and sister holiday but there is much more to these siblings than meets the eye. They both escaped from a cult fifteen years ago and Gabriel is currently the prime suspect in a murder case…

When I was sent this book, I was super intrigued as I’d seen great reviews for Michallon’s previous novel. I found that the plot idea was strong but the execution of it really didn’t work for me.

It’s really easy for authors to use cults as an edgy, interesting and fascinating backstory for their characters. Executing it well is a whole different story - pardon the pun…

It simply didn’t work for me. I didn’t care for Frida or Gabriel and found it quite a chore to get through their story. I wasn’t gripped, I wasn’t intrigued and that’s why it was a two star read for me unfortunately!

Happy Sunday!!! I meant to post this just after my birthday back in June but alas… it’s now nearly the end of August 😂

I went through my shelves and picked up all of the books I definitely want to read during this decade of my life!

Some of these are series I need to finish (Kevin Kwan… I’m looking at you), books my Mum loved (Belle), authors I haven’t tried yet (Stephen King and Sebastian Faulks) or books I’ve wanted to read for ages!

Good morning pals - it’s review time today!

What Does It Feel Like? by Sophie Kinsella

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A semi-autobiographical novel from the late Kinsella, exploring how her life felt after being diagnosed with cancer.

Kinsella has been a popular name in the book world for a long time and her death was incredibly sad. I’ve wanted to read her final novel for quite a while but treaded carefully because of the emotional subject matter. I lost my own Mum to cancer back in 2014 so it’s always emotional to read other people’s stories.

At just over 100 pages, this is a short but powerful read that I read in one sitting. Kinsella’s writing hooks you in then spits you out (a bit broken) at the end - it was such a rollercoaster.

So much of this book in rooted in Kinsella’s experiences and I love the way she translated her real life into Eve’s life. It was sad, beautiful, funny and just so touching.

If you’re in a good place emotionally, I would highly recommend this gorgeous book but take a tissue for sure x
