My next read is my all time favourite book. 📚

@jeff_vandermeer123 I apologise for having a copy with film cover. However, it does make he feel less guilty for the amount of annotating I have done in this copy.

Six years ago, I first read this book while I was alone in a meadow. I could not have picked a better or worse location. I have since written essays on this and also not shut up about this book.

I am so excited to read it again.

My tbr list for the rest of the year 📚

With the rate in which I am reading, and my tenancy to pick up larger books, there are only five books on my tbr list for the rest of the year. They are not the only books I will read over the last two and a bit months of the year, but they are the five I am going to try my hardest to get read from my bookshelf.

Annihilation will be my Halloween read and I can go on and on about how much I love this book. Never Let Me Go is something I wish to revisit too. Meanwhile, I have never read Katabasis, The Darkest Minds and Game of Thrones but I wish to change that and hopefully by the end of the year.

📚 My current read

Currently, I am reading 'Educated' by @itsmetarajane and I am obsessed. I am hooked on the writing and devouring the narrative each night when I read.

That is my only problem when it comes to reading this book, I am mostly reading before bed and therefore falling asleep after too few pages.

I can't wait to finish the story, to learn more from the memoir. It is so powerful to hear a narrative that advocates for education in a world that has begun to simplify too much. Educated by Tara Westover by @readwithpip

My current read: 'Romeo and Juliet in Palestine' by Tom Sperlinger

It's good, what can i say. The story of a lecturer who is half Irish and half Jewish teaching at a university in Palestine. Using literature as a way in which everyone can connect and relate to each other's experiences, as well as the hardships faced by the Palestinian students.

Empathy is such an essential human emotion. We need to be able to listen to each other and learn. 🍉

Here I am again.

What have I been up to? Too much. Also this book has most of my attention right now. At first I was scared to read it thinking 'had Suzanne Collins become a sell out' writing another entry to the Hunger Games saga? The answer, no. Once again the book is full of relevant wit to the modern day under the disguise of a dystopian story.

So this year's 'book buying ban' is not working but that is OK.

I have had a lot of posts about an anti-library appear on my feed. I forget who coined the idea but the whole point of it is reiterated with the scarcity that AI can bring to physical books. How having access to books, even if you have not read the ones on your shelf, is just as important as having read them.

However, I have saved money on all of these books as they are either second hand or cheaper from the supermarket. Again, the ethics of books from the supermarket can be debated, but sometimes a girl can do what she wants with her money.

Anyway, I was hyped when I saw Sunrise on the Reaping on the shelf. I was not the weird Hunger Games girl in school for no reason.

📚 September tbr

I am going to try to read three books this spetember, which is many more than I have read any month yet this year. But I have adjusted to the changes in my life so that will be more likely.

The books I'd like to read are:
- Death in the Afternoon by Ernest Hemingway
- Katabasis by R F Kuang
- Educated by Tara Westover

Again, I like to read variety, and I am keen for each of these books.

The current book pairing.

Yup, I am just reading Hemingway at the moment. I love how he writes. I love the stories he tells and the nuances placed in his characters. And there is no better pairing than 'Fiesta' and 'Death in the Afternoon'. I have not read two books that complement each other before but it is an idea I like and makes sense. I do love to engage in literary worlds and expand my knowledge.

It has been six years since I finished this series. Wow.

I remember I was obsessed, I read the books as they were released and then waited for the paperback editions to be published because the hardbacks were too expensive for my pocket money. I have the entire series in the original covers and I was obsessed at the time.

I don't know if i would have the same opinion if I read these now but some day I want to, purely for the nostalgia (and because I think I've forgotten quite a bit about the plot of each narrative).

I do find it crazy how people are just finding this series, the first book is probably old enough to vote now 😅

Well @theravenbookshopshrewsbury you did it again. I was walking past and saw a book that I had been wanting to read for ages and I just had to get it. For so long I had been wanting to read Educated by @itsmetarajane and finally I have managed to get my hands on a copy.

I think stories about obtaining an education are even more relevant now that AI has made people lazier. Likewise, I see it as compelling to know about how inaccessible an education still is to some people. There also feel to be an act of defiance when buying a second hand book to read and own for youself now that tech companies are buying books up and limiting the human eyes who will see and learn from those words on a page.

Second hand books Saturday 📚

How could you not want these editions of The Lord of the Rings. I remember I was looking for copies of the books for myself but intended on getting them second hand because so many copies of the book already exist. And then I found these.

It's been over two years since I first read them but I'd like to read them again and I will, once I finish my finishing my tbr project. These books are modern classics, and they're just so cosy to read.
