This FB message is from a dear friend in Dubai who made my Easter weekend. I don't need hundreds of followers. I don't need to feel the pressure to post every day.

I just want to spread my love of reading one page at a time.

I decided to share this message as it brings me so much joy.

Thank you for being part of my community.

I feel #blessedtobeablessing

I’m #currentlyreading *Sophie Standing There* by Meg Mason. I’m finding this book so easy to get into, and I look forward to picking it up for a few pages every single day, which is always a great sign. I absolutely loved *Sorrow and Bliss*, and I have a feeling this one is going to be another big hit for me too!

What are you currently reading?

The Nuremberg Women by @natlivingstone
Genre: Non Fiction
Blurb: Nuremberg, 1945. The world watched as some of the most notorious Nazi war criminals were brought to justice. But behind the famous courtroom filled with powerful men was another story, one shaped by women whose contributions have largely been forgotten.

Through the eyes of eight remarkable women: journalists, interpreters, lawyers, artists and survivors whose stories have often been overlooked.Natalie Livingstone brings eight remarkable women to the centre of the narrative.

200 pages. That's all. Yet A Family Matter packed more emotional punch than books three times its length.

This is one of those stories that quietly gets under your skin. Emotive, reflective and beautifully written, it's the kind of book that lingers long after you've turned the final page. I found myself thinking about it constantly.

I was already impressed to discover this was Claire Lynch's fiction debut... then I realised it's an award-winning debut. Completely deserved.

Key themes: Family • Motherhood • Identity • Sacrifice • Belonging

Thank you to my buddy reader @olivestranklements for sharing this reading experience with me. There's nothing quite like discussing a book that leaves such a lasting impression. I love our voicenote discussions 💕

Don't miss this one. I'll definitely be looking out for whatever Claire Lynch writes next.

Happy Birthday to me! 🥳🎉
Sunday was my birthday and, as any 🦁 knows, it's always a big deal and absolutely worth celebrating every single year! 🥂✨

I'm always humbled and so grateful for my friends and family who take the time to send birthday wishes. And I continue to be blown away by the generosity of my bookish besties, @katie_is_reading and @busbysbooks, who gifted me these beautiful bookish goodies. Thank you both. You spoil me every year and I'm so lucky to have you. ❤️📚

Plus, a few snaps from celebrating with the family at @claplondon in London... knocking back the champers, darling! 🍾🥂😘 #Cheers

A fun fact: I also share my birthday with my mother-in-law, @annamoutarde – exactly 30 years apart to the day! 🎂

Now tell me... do you share your birthday with someone special, or with a memorable occasion? I'd love to hear! ⬇️

☀️ If you're only reading one book this summer, make it Finding Grace by @lorettarothschild

This is my top summer read recommendation, and it absolutely deserves the hype.

From the very first page, it grabbed me and refused to let go. Intense, compelling and completely addictive, I couldn't put it down.

In fact, I finished it in just over 24 hours...and I loved every minute.

If you're looking for a book to completely lose yourself in this summer, this is it.

Catch the #readwithsabs memo and grab yourself a copy. Devour it, then come back and thank me later! 😉📚

✨ Unpopular opinion? I don't think Theo of Golden deserves to be labelled as simply a love-it-or-hate-it book.

After seeing so many glowing reviews, I went in with incredibly high expectations... and I've come away sitting somewhere in the middle.

At its heart, this is a story about kindness, humanity and compassion, qualities I value deeply. Theo embodies all of those virtues, and there was one moment that genuinely made me gasp out loud.

But despite admiring what the book was trying to achieve, I never fully connected with Theo or the people he met along the way.

There's a strong Christian faith narrative running throughout. As a woman of faith, that wasn't something that put me off. I just didn't feel it was woven seamlessly into the story. At times, it felt as though the biblical messages had been layered over an already-written narrative, rather than growing naturally from it.

I wanted this book to leave a lasting mark on me. Instead, it left me thoughtful... but not moved.

Would I still recommend it? Yes.

If nothing else, it's one of those books that sparks conversation, and I completely understand why readers seem to fall so firmly into opposite camps.

For me?

✨ Less golden... more silver. Maybe even bronze. 🥈🥉

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Have you read Theo of Golden? Did it completely win you over, or did you find yourself somewhere in the middle too?

I'm loving seeing everyone's #midyearbookcelebrationtag posts. Thank you, @ktlee.writes for the prompt!

I actually found this challenge quite tricky. I've only read 20 books so far this year, so filling every prompt was no easy feat.

A huge shout-out to Douglas Stuart. John of John absolutely rocked my world, just as all of his books do. Meeting my favourite author back in May remains one of my highlights of 2026.

My favourite book character so far this year is Ella, Cal's grandmother in John of John. What a hoot she is!

I'm still waiting for the book that moves me to tears and the one that gives me a proper laugh-out-loud moment. There's still time...

The biggest surprise was how much I enjoyed Patrick Radden Keefe's London Falling. Without question, it's my non-fiction book of the year so far.

Do we have any of these in common?

Overall, I really enjoyed Smallie by Eden MacKenzie-Goddard. An impressive debut exploring the lasting impact of the Windrush Scandal, and an especially fitting read for #ReadCaribbeanMonth.

A huge thank you to my bookish bestie buddy readers: @busbysbooks @aminasbookshelf @mytreasureinbooks @katie_is_reading 💛

For me, the writing style absolutely worked. The story is well crafted. The relationship between grandfather and grandson packed the emotional punch I'd been waiting for.

I didn't quite feel the maternal anguish of leaving little Reggie behind. I couldn't help wondering whether this was partly because the story is written by a male author from the perspective of a woman. All the ingredients were there, but I never fully connected emotionally.

Ironically, the character I couldn't stop thinking about was Reggie.

I should add that this isn't a criticism of the story Eden set out to tell, far from it. Smallie is focused on the Windrush Scandal and the devastating consequences for those directly affected. But Reggie opened up another thread that stayed with me long after I finished the book. My own family's story mirrors this part of Windrush history.

My grandparents left Barbados for the UK, leaving behind their eldest child my Auntie Pam to be raised by her grandmother, while my dad and his younger siblings came to Britain. I've often wondered what that experience was like for the child who stayed behind. How different might life have felt watching your siblings leave to build another life?

Reading Smallie reminded me how little I've encountered stories from the perspective of the children who were left behind. What was Reggie's childhood like? Who did he become as an adult? There is such an important story to tell there too, and I'd love to read both fiction and non-fiction exploring those experiences.

Morning. 😊
Today I decided to take time for myself BEFORE I started my busy day at the office.
Breakfast at Pret - a acai and banana bowl with almond butter. A weak latte ☕️ and a 🥐.
I stole 20 minutes to be present, focused on myself and my book.
Let me tell you, John of John is a world away from Shuggie Bain and Young Mungo. It's certainly a love letter to Scotland with the most sublime character development and setting. Half way through and I am loving it.
Have a great Wednesday all.
