POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

First, this sound is 💯 perfection with its Gimme More background.

Second, after hearing it I immediately thought of @ashleywinsteadbooks. She is the author of three suspense-related stories:

✂️ In My Dreams, I Hold a Knife
(dark academia vibes)
🪡 The Last Housewife
(cult vibes)
🌙 Midnight Is The Darkest Hour
(Twilight inspired, small town corruption vibes)

And two inter-connected romance stories:

🗳️ Fool Me Once
(environmental politics, lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers vibes)
🍎 The Boyfriend Candidate
(education politics, fake dating vibes)

The way Ashley is able to weave through genres, crafting through-provoking stories with characters who are messy yet relatable is iconic.

I love all of her books, but I feel a personal connection with The Boyfriend Candidate as Ashley has described it partially as a love letter to teachers!

Have you read any of Ashley’s work? by @readwiththomas

How often do you open a book?

Notice it says open a book…

I mean I have good intentions. I plan on reading every day. It happens often… but sometimes it’s only a few pages at night when I’m sleepy and don’t get very far. Other nights, it’s stay up late until the book is finished… which can be way too late. Many nights, it’s somewhere in between.

If I get to bed early enough and put down the phone, I feel content with what I read, but both of those things can be a challenge sometimes! 😂 by @readwiththomas

The real world just isn’t as good as a fictional one, right?!

I think Batter Gray, protagonist of Peck & Peck by @bonnie_garmus_author would agree.

Today is the first day of our @tandemcollectiveglobal readalong, and in these first pages, we see how Batter not only relates to poetry, but how it helps him make sense of the world. His indecision over choosing a college major is very relateable, and upon graduation, he’s no closer to knowing what he wants. The games definitely have to begin for him now (especially telling his parents he’s moving to New York, when he has no plan!)

Interesting in ditching the real world, and joining this fictional one? I’ll post our reading schedule in my stories everyday so you can grab a copy and read with us! by @readwiththomas

Everybody clap. Be impressed. I’ve been reading instead of phone scrolling (ok well, less phone scrolling).

And I’m about to do it again right now! I’ve read three books the last few days, and it’s about to be four!

(Also, Gabrielle Solis from Desperate Housewives is my hero. One of my favorite characters ever, and this sound is so good. @evalongoria was so good playing both her serious and her comedic sides! I have a few good sounds saved to use…) by @readwiththomas

I was kinda busy today adding some new books to my classroom library!

Thanks to some sales at @indigo and @bookoutlet, along with the generosity of @scholasticcda, I have quite a few new books for my students to read! I got to work today scanning them into my library program, @libib, so that my students can check them out with their library cards (and yes they use the scanner too). Then I stamped the inside and the top of the books with my name so they can hopefully not get mixed up with personal or school library books. Finally, I set up the graphic novels on display so students can see what is new.

I still have some traditional novels to add to the collection, but it was a good start today! by @readwiththomas

What are you thankful for?

Canadian Thanksgiving weekend felt like the perfect time to bring back this trend to focus on some of the things I’m thankful for here in Bookstagram.

There are so many wonderful things, but I’m most thankful for the community that’s here and the friendships I’ve built with authors and fellow book lovers. There’s something special about this corner of social media, and I’m definitely grateful for it! by @readwiththomas

As LM Montgomery wrote in Anne of Green Gables, “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

One of my favourite things to do in early October is to look at all the fall colours that have emerged in the trees. I’m lucky that this view is basically in my backyard, and that Nova Scotia has lots of places to see October in all its glory.

Add a great audiobook, and I’m one happy guy! by @readwiththomas

I’m sure we’ve all lied on our resumes at one point, like Fran Fine right?!

I’m so excited to be joining a great group of readers for @tandemcollectiveglobal Rreadalong of Peck & Peck by @bonnie_garmus_author. My book arrived today, along with some monogrammed
red pencils, one of which you see me using.

I’m not sure if main character Batter Gray ever lied on his résumé to get his dream job at Peck & Peck, the most prestigious poetry quarterly in the world, but I guess I’ll find out when we start the book on October 13th! by @readwiththomas

Anyone else need a guide for the first few chapters of a book?!

Like who is this character and what are they doing here? But also where is here?! That is just one reason I appreciate a book that has a family tree, a list of names or a map at the beginning of a book! … especially if it’s a fantasy type read, or a mystery with a lot of suspects.

It always takes me a few chapters to get everything straight in my mind! by @readwiththomas

Anyone else struggle with what day it is?!

I’ve been saving this audio to use for a quite a while and it couldn’t be more appropriate for today, when a co-worker confidently said to me that the week was flying by and that tomorrow was Friday… she didn’t believe when I informed her it was only Wednesday. 😂 I’ve definitely done it before too!

It’s been another busy week, but I’ve been sneaking in a little reading. Luckily it’s easy to do with my audiobook (Wicked Wanted Widows) and the latest thriller from @markedwardsauthor. I’m only 60 pages in but I’m hooked.

I’m definitely looking forward to this weekend and Canadian Thanksgiving - I see lots of socialization, food, and reading in my future! by @readwiththomas

Don’t you love a sequel?! I sure do!

Especially when it features my home province as its setting, characters that I love, and a mystery that has you turning the pages. The Treasure Hunter’s Club by @tomryanauthor was a total blast, and today is the day to return to Maple Bay with Peter, Dandy and Cass as they embark solving a new mystery where the dangers of past and present collide.

If you love a cozy thriller, you’ll love Tom’s writing. I’m diving into my copy of Return to Breakneck Island tonight! by @readwiththomas

What book are you most looking forward to in October?

The year may be beginning to wind down but there are so many great books still to come! As if I wasn’t behind enough with all the books I want to read! 😂

I think the two books I’m most looking forward to are Return to Breakneck Island (I love me some Tom Ryan and a Nova Scotian set mystery) and I’ll Believe in Anything (who doesn’t love Heated Rivalry?! Plus I think the behind the scenes nature of it is going to be so interesting). A lot of these books are going to be my holiday reads this year (shoutout A Christmas Inn Maine and Home for the Homicides), which will make for a great December!

October 6:
🪎 Return to Breakneck Island - Tom Ryan
💎 Murdle Heist - GT Karber
👀 Do You See What I See? - Peter Swanson
🗽 Murder on 34th Street - Mariah Fredericks

October 13:
🧊 Home For The Homicides - Elle Cosimano & Hannah Morrissey
📝 Peck & Peck - Bonnie Games
🛠️ A Christmas Inn, Maine - Aaron Kyte
🏒 I’ll Believe In Anything - Jacob Tierney
🐈‍⬛ Look What The Cat Dragged In - Jason Rekulak
🩸 It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Murder - Ally Carter

October 20:
🎄 The Christmas Curse - Alix Kelinda

October 27:
🫆 The Official Clue Book of Puzzles - Gareth Moore & Laura Jayne Ayres by @readwiththomas
