Hello there!! It’s about time I posted a self update!

My names Renee and I’m the face behind the lens at Ready Set Camera! I started my business back in 2020 (yes I know, perfect timing!) and have grown so much in those 4 years. I’ve worked along side some amazing photographers and have met such beautiful people and shared their personal stories through my images.

I love photography for its capacity to freeze moments in time and being able to document love in all of its wild and wonderful forms. It fills my heart with warmth and joy to be able to meet wonderful people and share their unique and beautiful
love stories. I am so grateful for the opportunity to do what I do!

What if your next photoshoot looked a little more like your favourite weekend?

Maybe it’s swimming at your favourite river. Getting coffee and wandering through a bookstore. Taking your fur baby somewhere new. A road trip. A night at the carnival. Making pizza at home.

Whatever it is, I want to capture it.

Because the things you do together, the places you always go, the little traditions you have and the way you spend your time; are part of your story too.

And maybe a photoshoot doesn’t always need to be about finding a pretty location, standing in front of my camera and hoping I tell you where to put your hands.

Maybe you just invite me along.

This retreat was a bit of a turning point for me creatively. I’ve been thinking a lot about why I photograph people and what I want my photos to give you years from now.

I want you to look back and remember more than what you looked like.

I want you to remember what life felt like.

This concept, “meet me by the river,” helped me explore that idea and gave me the space to start finding the way I want to tell stories through my camera.

A huge thank you to Cailee for creating such an incredible retreat, for all of her help and guidance, and for dreaming up concepts that pushed me to think differently and create outside of what I normally would 🤍

So, if you have a favourite way to spend your weekend… maybe I should come along and capture it.

Our second book inspired session is officially complete 🤎📖

This time, our inspiration was Holding the Reins... and while I have to admit I didn’t manage to finish the book between my full-time 9–5, photographing sessions and editing galleries, I still had the best time bringing this story to life alongside such a talented group of creatives.

When we found out the original model couple could no longer make it, one couple instantly came to my mind. I messaged Rahni, hoping she might be available and she didn’t hesitate to say yes. I’m so grateful to Rahni and Jesse for stepping in because they absolutely brought these characters to life.

I couldn’t resist editing a few images from the final part of the day before diving into the rest. I still have so many favourites from their other outfit that I can’t wait to share soon 🤍

A reminder that sometimes the best things happen when the original plan falls apart…

After a last minute cancellation for a shoot at one of my dream locations, my partner and I decided to make the trip anyway. While watching the sunset, I spotted Ash & Jacob sitting on the beach and worked up the courage to ask if they’d like some free photos!

Lucky for me, they said yes…

These two were visiting Victoria from Perth, and what started as a cancelled shoot turned into one of my most favourite couple sessions. The light, the location, the connection... everything just fell into place.

There was something a little wild about this session.

The wind tangling itself in Rahni’s hair, the hills stretched endlessly into the distance and the old tree stood quietly between them like it had witnessed a thousand love stories before theirs.

Maybe it was because I’d watched Wuthering Heights earlier that day, but I couldn’t help seeing traces of that windswept romance woven through these moments. Not in the drama, but in the feeling. Two people finding their way back to each other, completely at home in the other’s presence.

What made this session even more special for me is that I met Rahni over 10 years ago when we danced together in our childhood. Life took us in different directions and we lost touch, so when her wedding enquiry appeared in my inbox all these years later, I was absolutely over the moon.

Now I get the privilege of documenting this chapter of her story with Jesse.

These sessions are one of my favourite parts of the wedding experience. They give us a chance to slow down, get to know each other before the big day and create photographs that feel natural, relaxed and true to who you are.

I already know next year’s wedding is going to be something special and I can’t wait to document the next chapter of Rahni & Jesse’s story 🤍 taken in Wonga Park, Victoria, Australia by @ready.set.camera
