A good groove never goes out of style. 1975’s City Life, from the legendary jazz-funk ensemble The Blackbyrds is the newest Jazz Dispensary Top Shelf Reissue! Arriving May 30th, the chart-topping album features classics like the effervescent “Happy Music,” and the heavily sampled signature hit, “Rock Creek Park.” In celebration of the album’s golden anniversary, this reissue returns the City Life to vinyl in style, cut from the original analog tapes by Kevin Gray, pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a gatefold tip-on jacket. Additionally, a deluxe digital edition of City Life is now available to pre-save across streaming platforms, featuring five bonus tracks—including a disco mix of “Happy People,” a 12-inch version of “Rock Creek Park,” and a previously-unreleased extended cut of “All I Ask.” In celebration of the reissue, we’re excited to drop a brand-new official Blackbyrds T-shirt illustrated by acclaimed artist @madalynstefanak, inspired by the band’s iconic “Rock Creek Park” music video, available exclusively on the Jazz Dispensary store alongside other merch bundles. by @realblackbyrds

POV: you’re in London 🇬🇧, jet-lagged and sick but you get to play some lush chords at @officialronnies under the legendary @_marshallkeys who’s playing some of the sweetest soprano lines ever written. 🎹🎷 I’ll never get tired of the conversations we can have between Rhodes & sax. 😮‍💨 truly makes the lack of sleep worth it. 🎥: @tina_kolodiy #iseenord #explore #musician #londonjazz #neosoul by @realblackbyrds

Sometimes I’m really like, is this real life?? I just performed at the legendary @officialronnies opening for theeeeeee iconic @realblackbyrds on the same main stage that Prince once performed on… 🤯 wheeet!!! So incredibly honored to write and perform this poem inspired by me and my mother’s favorite band. And to share this moment with my sweet sis @domtoney. Our parents are somewhere proud of these two valley girls performing together, across the pond, IN LONDON of all places! What is life?!? What an adventure. My heart is so very full 💛✨ #theblackbyrds #ronniescotts #london #poetry #jazz by @realblackbyrds
