Juan de Fuca Marine Trail - 47km

I recently completed the Juan de Fuca trail over 3 nights and 4 days. I was happy to get out for one backpacking trip before the year was over. It was my first trail traversing beaches over a coastline. While the distance doesn't seem too long at only about 12 km a day and not the usual of gaining lots of elevation up a mountain, it was quite grueling due to the constant ups and downs and navigating the roots, rocks, and mud. The whole trip, I was accompanied by the soundtrack of the crashing waves of the Pacific ocean while hiking the quiet old growth forests. I was also rewarded by beautiful beaches, the scenery of the vast open ocean, and even sightings of whales everyday! Being in the outdoors always brings me peace. Even the seagulls are more chill out there 😂.The weather was perfect and definitely another one for the books.

San Pedro and Atacama desert

December 22-26 2024

Devil's throat, stargazing, Valle de Luna, Miscanti, Chaxa, salt flats....

Honestly, I don't remember much besides the unbearable heat, sand, and rocks.😂😂 My body wasn't handling the dryness and altitude well causing me extreme fatigue and almost daily nosebleeds.

I did however enjoy the Baltinache salt water lagoon where we could cool off and float due to the salinity. Really cool feeling! The most excited my friends claimed they saw me during this trip while otherwise being a zombie 😂😂

Although, this segment of our trip wasn't the most enjoyable for me, I still got to experience a different geographical region that seemed otherworldly and got to see flamingos, and nicuñas/llamas/guanaca. ☺️

Torres del Paine - O-circuit
December 12-19 2024

The park is located in the Patagonia region of Chile and is bucket list trail for all those who love hiking. While most of the trail is not extremely challenging, it was mentally and physically taxing due to the length of the trip, carrying our heavy packs, surviving on dehydrated food, and sleeping on air mattresses.

However, we were rewarded with the beautiful scenery of the wild Patagonian terrain. We experienced severe winds, trudged through snow, descended on a glacier hundreds of kilometers in size, and were breath taken by the sky-scraping mountains that surrounded us. It was as if we were walking through a documentary.

It was great to meet people from all over the world, some even in their 60s and 70s, joined by our common love of nature and the outdoors.

Go outside and enjoy our beautiful Earth!

An amazing adventure that I will never forget! 😊
