Advocacy is personal. And it matters.

From our conversation a couple weeks ago—some inspiration and a call to action!

Zach Hardy (Director of State Government Relations @michaeljfoxorg) sat down with Michael Sazonov (Policy & Advocacy Chair @teamfoxnyc) and connected over the progress of the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act (now the The National Parkinson’s Project), the federal advisory council tasked to report to Congress, and where we can participate in this nationwide initiative.

Because, what we say can help move the conversation, the policy, and the work forward.

The National Parkinson’s Project matters. The Advisory Council on Parkinson’s Research, Care, and Services is continuing its work. This is an opportunity for people with Parkinson’s, care partners, families, clinicians, researchers, and advocates to help shape what comes next.

You don’t have to be a policy expert.
You don’t need perfect words.

You know what matters.
You know what needs to change.

Use your voice.

Public comments are now being accepted.

🗓️ Submit by October 26, 2026, at 5:00 PM ET

Comments received by the deadline will be shared with Council members before the November 9 public meeting.

The National Plan should reflect the people it is meant to serve—their experiences, their priorities, and their hopes for better care, better research, and a better future.

Speak up. Let’s shape this plan together.

From Story to Policy: Parkinson’s Advocacy in Action

It was such a pleasure to sit down with Zach and talk about sharing your story, building your advocacy network, what’s happening locally in NY and NJ, and being part of the National Parkinson’s Project.

Until next time! Our doors are always open and your voice matters.

🙌🏽💛 Dance, improvisation, and creative expression are the ingredients to our “sofrito” — the season of life. It was a great pleasure ending the summer and beginning Hispanic Heritage Month with my compatriots in community with Prof. Gemma Moya-Galé and the Communication, Technology, and Language Diversity Lab for Neurodegenerative Disease at Teachers College.

It feels like a full circle moment, remembering when my dad and I used to join Gemma and her students playing and warming up our voices back during the pandemic. Building this community of like-minded scientists and artists is divine. by @realityandtruth

You’re magic, kid. I love you so. by @realityandtruth

Three varieties of corn this year and three varieties of beans as well. Squash and pumpkin and watermelon spreading across as delicious ground cover. I’m proud of our little garden — mama and little one have been diligent, dutiful, and detailed in their work for all the other delicious yet unnamed fruits and vegetables — and I’m honored and grateful to make another attempt at the Three Sisters planting method.

🌾🌽 Did you know there are brace roots that develop in the last stages of growth during a corn’s plant life? As if the corn knows of the weight to come. In preparation of pollination and vegetative growth, the plant emits a strong root system at ground level “bracing itself” in order to sustain itself through new growth.

$Capturing the cryptic chaos of the human element inside the machine, where the Trillion Dollar Man meets the Frankenstein problem — this dynamic duo (Xn0rml via @solidbassrecords_) takes us on a surreal trip-hop flight of flesh, byte, beat, and bone. In a nod to Huxley’s prophecy and the braggadocious glitch of AI’s Bing hallucinations I play fractions of an anonymous prompt engineer (the human form) through dance and pantomime, while world-class musicians swim in a poetic parody of sentience and a monster of our own making. 🎹 Music by Ted Sabety ✍️ Words by Mark Svenvold 👾Conceived by Xn0rml ✨🌊Watch the code break at @ArtYardCenter 🤖🔥 #BingHallucination #FrankensteinProblem #Xn0rml #ArtYardResidency #MichaelVitalySazonov by @realityandtruth$

Spring songs and summer sounds.

Working in the studio and in the street. Inspired by the prolific Charles Aznavour. Lyrics below:

Yesterday when I was young
The taste of life was sweet as rain upon my tongue
I teased at life as if it were a foolish game
The way the evening breeze may tease a candle flame
The thousand dreams I dreamed, the splendid things I planned
I always built, alas, on weak and shifting sand
I lived by night and shunned the naked light of day
And only now I see how the years ran away

Yesterday, when I was young
So many drinking songs were waiting to be sung
So many wayward pleasures lay in store for me
And so much pain my dazzled eyes refused to see
I ran so fast that time and youth at last ran out
I never stopped to think what life was all about
And every conversation I can now recall
Concerned itself with me, me and nothing else at all

Yesterday the moon was blue
And every crazy day brought something new to do
I used my magic age as if it were a wand
And never saw the waste and emptiness beyond
The game of love I played with arrogance and pride
And every flame I lit too quickly, quickly died
The friends I made all seemed somehow to drift away
And only I am left on stage to end the play

There are so many songs in me that won't be sung
I feel the bitter taste of tears upon my tongue
The time has come for me to pay for yesterday
When I was young
