In honor of the new season of @loveisland premiering tonight, it felt right to post the link to our short film IT IS WHAT IT IS, which if you like Love Island, you may really enjoy our satirical film about a Kevin Best, a guy evicted from a British love-themed reality show, who then learns that his TV romance break-up has caused a simmering public outrage. Couple years ago, I was asked to be a part of the series of short docs, Invisible Heroes, in the UK. To follow a London Bin man (garbage man) around on his morning routine. It was an amazing morning, with a really sweet guy, and unfortunately,it never aired due to, well… Little did we know who that man was or, I prob should say, claims to be. UPDATE 11
You can now watch our 50 day challenge feature film at the LINK IN MY BIO.

THE DOSAGE MAKES THE POISON was made for a 50 day challenge - no idea, script or plan, to create and write AND shoot a feature film in under 50 days.

On day 1 - We had no script, no ideas, no plan.
On day 2 - Social media picked between two ideas.
On day 8 - We had a feature length script.
On day 27 - We started filming.
On day 46 - We wrapped our experimental feature film where nothing had existed 46 days before.

Due to union rules, and getting approval, we could only risk having one actor in the film, and so had to create an idea where only one character could work.

So this is all to say.... This could be called an experimental film, in many, many ways. A film where a bunch of fearless and insane New York artists decided to come together in the most indie film of ways, and write a script, find some cash, be given a weird and wild dental office to film in, and make something surreal and unique and beautiful about a subject that’s important and complicated. That explores our humanity and brutality in all its pain and horror and hope.

This film explores one man’s battle with depression, and the film externalizes that internal fight. That battle. Fighting for yourself, against yourself. It’s a battle that is unlike anything else. Because no one else can hear it. No one else can see it. No one else can participate. And it’s the most dangerous and deadly conversation you can have, because nobody listens to you the way you listen to yourself. “Depression to me, feels like another person in the room trying to hurt me. To kill me. Both physically and mentally, wanting to suffocate me and hold me down, until I agree with its reality” And that is what I wanted to visualize; what it would look like, feel like, if the voice in your head, as it grows stronger, became a physical presence as it began to overpower.

It is surreal and bold and weird and absolutely not for everyone. We just wanted to put some paint on the canvas. Try some colors out, test some ideas. Fail and learn. And tomorrow, we grab another canvas, and we do it again.

The film is a surreal exploration of one man’s battle with depression. Externalizing that internal fight. Fighting for yourself, against yourself. It’s a battle that is unlike anything else. Because no one else can hear it. No one else can see it. No one else can participate. And it’s the most dangerous and deadly conversation you can have, because nobody listens to you the way you listen to yourself. It’s a story about what it feels like inside, to me, externalized in all its pain and horror and hope. by @realjonfletcher

UPDATE 8
A note from me -longer one (sorry in advance)
The film is now submitted to other festivals, and I’ll keep you updated, now we are finished post, on how it’s going.
ALSO - my microphone is not working but it’s not @dji fault it’s my @apple phone charging port is busted and that’s how I connected it, or not… as it happens. So I’m basically holding a mic for no reason and didn’t realize till I was done. LETS GO!!!! by @realjonfletcher
