🐤This little bird is with us for the weekend.
She is strong. She is confident. She is funny, clever, curious, and full of stories.
She shares pieces of her little life with us. The things she’s been through, the places she’s been, the things she’s seen. Because kids talk. They want to make sense of their world, and sometimes they just need someone who will sit beside them, listen, and let them be heard without judgement.
We don’t know whether our paths will cross again. That’s one of the bittersweet parts of foster parenting. You open your heart without knowing how long you’ll have, what comes next, or whether you’ll ever get to see the little person you grow to care about again.
But maybe that’s the point.
We don’t have to be forever to matter. We don’t have to have all the answers to offer a safe place. And we don’t have to fix everything to show a child that they are worthy of kindness, patience, laughter, and love.
For this weekend, our little bird gets to just be a kid. To laugh, to talk, to feel safe enough to trust, and to know that someone is listening.
And if she flies away again, I know she will carry a little piece of that with her. 🐦🤍 #fostercare by @reallifewithbel
