When a multi GRAMMY Award winning Icon like @reallycassandra tells you she loves the vibe of @woodshedstudio … you know we’re doing something right. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

An intimate space where the music comes first.

That’s the vision behind The Woodshed Studio Retreat.

A place where musicians can create without the pressure of the clock, stay upstairs, relax, focus purely on the music sleep and doing it again over and over again.

Honored to have Queen Cassandra Wilson here creating with the Legendary @elewrockjazz

Question for the musicians:
When are you recording here? Hit us up. We also do HD recoding in each room for content recording.. Let’s Go Get’em!!

Who’s Next?
👇🏾 Let me know in the comments.

I’ve met the great and lovely #CyroBaptista @cyrobaptista 18 years ago, in 2007, on my very first John Zorn session, and I remember that after that session Cyro said to me “you survived” and smiled… Cyro is awesome and he is real!
We’ve become friends and I’ve been in love with his playing and his persona ever since. A true genuinely nice human whose company and stories I’ve always enjoyed. Since then we’ve made countless albums and been on countless concerts together and it’s always a blast to see Cyro do his thing!

So tonight, even though I was working on another concert, as soon as that other concert ended, I ran to the #RoseTheater at #Lincoln Center to catch the second half of the second night of this huge and well deserved 75th Birthday celebration of Cyro Baptista.

The cast of musicians was obviously stellar and included a lot of the great musicians I’ve been fortunate to meet, work with and become friends with thanks to Zorn: #ShanirBlumenkranz @abraxastoureu2019 on bass & oud, and #BrianMarsella @brianmarsella on piano, just to mention two of my closer friends, but so many others…

Tonight’s special guest was #CassandraWilson @reallycassandra while yesterday’s special guest was #TreyAnastasio @treyanastasio of #Phish.

I could not have missed this awesome celebration and I wish Cyro and his family all the very best from the bottom of my heart!

Here is the list of musicians that graced the stage:

Cyro Baptista - Percussion / Vocals
Shanir Ezra Blumenkranz - Bass / Oud
Jason Fratticelli - Bass / Cuatro
John Lee - Guitar / Banjo
Felipe Hostins - Accordion
Scott Kettner - Drumkit
Carlos Eduardo da Costa - Piano
Zé Luis - Woodwinds
John Altieri - Sousaphone
Junior Karegato - Percussion
Max Pollak - Tap Dance and Body Percussion
Chikako Iwahori - Tap Dance and Vocals
Sofija Knezevic - Vocals
Brian Marsella - Piano

Special Guests:

Trey Anastasio - Guitar / Vocals (NOVEMBER 7 ONLY)
Cassandra Wilson - Vocals (NOVEMBER 8 ONLY)
Hassan Hakmoun - Sintir / Vocals taken in Rose Theater at Lincoln Center by @reallycassandra
