📣 First Realness alumni only event. You know how to build a world, shape a character, and hold an audience. Where else could those skills take you? The creator economy opens up possibilities for film and television artists: new collaborators, direct audience relationships, sponsored productions, and ways to earn between projects. But attention doesn’t automatically become a livelihood. Understanding the business matters alongside developing the craft. That’s why we’re opening Story Village’s business speaker series with Ivana Kirkbride. Link in bio to signup. A digital media investor, startup entrepreneur, and Fortune 50 operator, Ivana has spent her career launching products and growing ecosystems at the intersection of media, technology, and entertainment. Join us to explore what that changing landscape could mean for your creative future. 🗓 23 October 2026

🚀 We are pleased to be launching Story Village: a Pan-African community of 850+ storytellers connected through ten years of learning, exchange and collaboration through the Realness Institute programs. Story Village gives a home and a name to the relationships built and those we continue to in our community of Pan-African storytellers. It is a space to stay connected, share knowledge, strengthen artistic practice and build the future of African film and television together.

This is more than an alumni network. It is what becomes possible when storytellers with a shared reality find one another and help move one another’s work forward.

Come to our first alumni only Story Village event which is a business coaching session on the intersection of the creator economy and our film/TV careers with creator economy expert and leader, Ivana Kirkbride. Happening on  Oct 23 at 7 pm SAST. Sign up with the form on the homepage of www.realnessinstitute.com or link in bio. Learn more about our first speaker 👇🏾 Ivana Kirkbride has spent her career as an investor in digital media, entrepreneur at disruptive startups and operator at Fortune 50 corporations. She is known for launching innovative products and scaling new ecosystems at the convergence of media, technology, and entertainment.

⭐️ ‘The Words I Do Not Have’ Heads to Biennale College Cinema and Talents Durban ! Shveta Naidoo (@shveta_naidoo), who participated in the 5th edition of Creative Producer Indaba, is producing ‘The Words I Do Not Have’, the debut feature from Kenyan filmmaker Shandra Apondi (@shandydaisy). The coming-of-age story follows a university student navigating love, self-doubt and the pressures of young womanhood. The project has been selected for Biennale College Cinema in Venice, one of 12 projects chosen for this year’s international workshop. It’s also part of Talents Durban 2026 at Durban FilmMart (@durbanfilmmart). Shveta says the film “bubbles and bursts with life” against the backdrop of contemporary Kenya. As a producer, she’s drawn to stories that explore femininity in the global south. Her debut feature, ‘Let Them Be Seen’, premiered at IFFR 2026 and won Best Documentary at the Joburg Film Festival. 🤩We’re proud to see our alumni telling bold stories and taking them to the world stage.
