Everybody wants the war in Ukraine to end, but a peace-at-any-cost approach puts more innocent lives at risk.

Forty years ago this week, Ronald Reagan walked out of the room on Moscow rather than take a bad deal. Fourteen months later, he signed a treaty that changed the world.

Today, most of the pressure to end the war is falling on the country that was invaded. Reagan proved you don’t get lasting peace by rewarding the aggressor.

President Trump should remember that lesson.

America doesn't destroy nations. We use our military for just causes: to defend the innocent, defeat evil, and protect freedom.

Last week the president told the UN he's weighing whether to "annihilate" Iran and "drive them into hell with no chance of survival." That's not who we are, and it's not who we have to be to win against Iran.

Every president holds power over life and death, and answers for how he wields it. That authority demands moral clarity: the discipline to fight our enemies without becoming them.

Two children told the state nine times what their father was doing to them. They were sent back home nine times.

The information was there. Nobody acted.

I've worked on both sides of this system, nearly a decade at a DCF-regulated childcare program, and now as a Guardian ad Litem here in Pinellas County.

Florida lawmakers need to enact real accountability for these decisions and close the loopholes that let children fall through.

For the retired veteran on a fixed income, property tax relief can't come soon enough.

But for millions of Florida renters, this amendment could mean higher rent, not lower costs.

Amendment 3 needs to be the starting line, not the finish. Floridians doing budget math across this state deserve more than a one-off tax cut.

They deserve leaders who'll fight to make the American Dream affordable again.

Rent freezes and price controls sound like solutions, until you realize they don't create a single new home, job, or opportunity.

Those are just some of the democratic socialist promises on the table around the country right now. They're gaining traction because people are hurting, and they're addressing it.

Attacking socialism won't fix that. Neither will pretending the market is working fine for folks who can't find a house they can afford.

We fix this by building more homes, creating paths to good careers, and restoring an American dream that's within reach.

When people can't afford a house or a full tank of gas, they start listening to whoever promises to fix it. That's how socialism gains traction.

It's how a democratic socialist just got nominated for US Senate here in Florida.

The affordability crisis is real, and everyone feeling it deserves better than being ignored.

Florida won't make socialism go away with an economics lecture and a history lesson. It takes putting the American dream back within reach: the promise that anyone from anywhere can achieve anything.

At the last dependency court hearing I attended, something stood out to me.

In the middle of competing priorities and back-and-forth discussion, with clarity and conviction, the Judge brought everyone's focus back to the main priority:

Safety, stability, and normalcy for the children being represented.

In life, competing priorities cloud the pursuit of justice.

True leadership means cutting through the fog and bringing everyone back to what matters most. by @realnickweston

Starter homes used to make up 40% of new home construction in America. Now they're down to under 10%.

The solution isn't a government program. It's more options:

— Single family homes
— Apartments
— Townhomes

Real choices for families doing everything right.

Current and future leaders need to clear the path and let the market build to bring down housing costs.

Many people in Tampa Bay and across America are doing everything right.

Working hard, playing by the rules, and chasing the American Dream: the promise that anyone from anywhere can achieve anything.

That includes owning a home.

But that dream is out of reach for too many Americans.

As a Guardian ad Litem in Pinellas County, I see it firsthand when the stakes are highest for our most vulnerable citizens—children in foster care.

I sat down with @wusfpublicmedia to talk about what current and future leaders can do to restore America's promise for those kids, their parents, and everyone willing to pursue the dream.

America promises that anybody, from anywhere, can achieve anything.

That promise has always included a home of your own.

In Tampa Bay and across America, even renting can feel out of reach. The nurse, the teacher, the mechanic, the young couple just starting out, they're doing the work, but the budget doesn't always balance.

We don't have to accept that.

Teen takeovers don't start with a social media post.

They start with empty seats at the kitchen table. Neighborhoods lacking community. And untapped ambition in our youth.

Last month, after a teenager was shot in Clearwater Beach, police made arrests, the state's top prosecutor put organizers on notice, and the city is demanding tougher ordinances.

All of that is exactly what we need, but none of it alone will stop the next one.
